With a little under two months to go, now is when some of the most important planning for San Diego Comic-Con takes place. Just like the start of a sport’s season, the month leading up to the opening is crucial for a successful season. We revisit this topic each year and have found that one of the most frequently underestimated components of preparation for the “King of Cons” is the use of Twitter. Sure, there are tons of Twitter lists out there, but you don’t want your feed to be cluttered when reception is at a low and traffic is at a high. So we’re being careful about the list and breaking this into two pieces: inside and outside. Just like our team-up to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of hotels inside and outside the Gaslamp, we’re taking the same approach to Twitter accounts. This time we’re covering all of the most important follows with the businesses inside the convention center and next time we’ll focus on all the SDCC that happens outside of SDCC.
Here are some of our favorite exhibitors and properties to help give the edge on giveaways and SDCC news:
@AgentsofSHIELD: We fully expect Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. back at Comic-Con, and this account will likely be capturing all the magic of their appearance at SDCC.
@BBCAmerica: Each year Doctor Who gets bigger at SDCC and with the (hopeful) return of Orphan Black, you can be sure they’ll be the home of some big SDCC news.
@BOOMStudios: Another popular comic book company with a big booth presence. Follow along for tweets and status on their events.
@CBSatComicCon: Don’t you love it when companies have Twitter accounts specifically for SDCC? We do, and that’s why this is one of our favorites.
@CW_Network: The CW should return with Supernatural and Arrow and several of their new series, including the highly-anticipated The Flash. Follow them for all the news on those shows.
@DarkHorseComics: Dark Horse Comics always brings a huge schedule of booth events, so follow them and stay up to date on the latest happenings.
@DCComics: Always rich with giveaways and panels. Expect lots from DC this year at SDCC, with five TV series airing in the fall.
@DisneyPictures: Will Disney be back in Hall H? We think so, and you might want to follow them for all the news coming out of the House of Mouse.
@HasbroNews: From Star Wars Black Series figures to glam metal Transformers, Hasbro offers some of the best and most sought-after exclusives around. We can’t wait what they have in store for this year.
@IDWPublishing: Not only does IDW have a great catalog of great comics, but they are also local to San Diego. Follow along for the latest happenings at their booth.
@ImageComics: The third-largest comics publisher in the US, follow them for booth signings, giveaways and special events.
@Legendary: Legendary beefed up their presence at Comic-Con last year, and we expect great things from the company at this year’s SDCC.
@Marvel: What is the next step for the Marvel dynasty? Follow and find out. They also announce their booth events and giveaways via Twitter throughout the con, so this one is essential.
@MattyCollector: Like Hasbro, Mattel is bringing a ton of exclusives, so follow them for updates.
@MondoNews: Mondo’s limited posters are highly sought-after, so stay on top of the drops during SDCC by following their Twitter account for announcements.
@MTV: When MTV went to San Diego Comic-Con a few years back, there was no going back. Since MTVGeek closed its operations, the mother account for all things MTV is the best place to find news on their panels, signings, and the upcoming MTV Fan Fest part.
@Nerdist: Is there anyone who loves SDCC more than Chris Hardwick? Is there anyone that SDCC loves more than Chris Hardwick?
@OriginalFunko: Funko is a relative newcomer to the Twitter scene, but they provide great coverage of their exclusives, how to get them, and more.
@ParamountPics: If Paramount has a studio panel, and we think they will, you might want to follow for the news and any special announcements.
@SDConventionCtr: Where better to get Comic-Con organizational news than the people who own the house?
@SkyboundEnt: Home of Robert Kirkman’s creator-owned projects including The Walking Dead and Thief of Thieves and Super Dinosaur.
@Slashfilm: Peter Sciretta and crew provide the very best coverage of all things film at SDCC. Follow them for all the big Hall H announcements as they happen.
@SonyPictures: What will Sony do to match the excitement of their competing super hero empires? Follow this account to keep up on its plans.
@StarWars: Whether Episode VII makes an appearance or not, the official Star Wars Twitter account always tweets the coolest convention pics of Star Wars cosplay.
@toddlandstore: Toddland is rad. They have Aquabats merch. And they will be back inside the convention center. Need any more of an excuse to follow them?
@UniversalPics: Will Universal be at Comic-Con with Jurassic World? We hope so, and you should follow along if they do.
@WarnerArchive: If you’re a fan of old-school cartoons or their podcast, make sure you’re following Warner Archive. During SDCC they typically do giveaways, share exciting panel news, and more.
@WarnerBlu: The home of Warner Bros. Blu-Ray is known to be a player in the SDCC market, and with all that we expect from Warner Bros. this year, they are a must follow.
@WarnerBrosTV: Warner Bros. Television produces tons of genre-friendly shows to the convention, and screens pilots during Preview Night. Follow for giveaways and announcements throughout the convention.
To make it easy to follow everyone, we’ve created a Twitter list with all of the accounts mentioned above. It’s called “SDCCBlog Inside SDCC”, and you can follow it with one click, here.
As many great followers as we have here, we’re sure there are more that you’ve found helpful inside the convention center. Let us know in the comments and we’ll update the list above, and the “SDCCBlog Inside SDCC” Twitter list we created for you, in the weeks leading up to SDCC.
