Gam3rCon Joining Forces With Geekie Awards For SDCC 2014

Gam3rConAlthough we already announced that Gam3rCon, the popular offsite gaming convention held during San Diego Comic-Con on July 24-27, will be returning this summer, we now know some details about what fans can expect at this year’s event.

Gam3rCon announced that it is joining forces with the Geekie Awards and their team to launch another year of “affordable, family friendly convention for gamers, geeks, and industry professionals”. Attendees will be retreated to an old-school Retrocade, a community Tabletop Gaming Lounge, panels from industry insiders, a video game arena, geek-themed theatre, artwork based on beloved game series, rooftop parties, concerts, and much more.

The Geekie Awards – an award show “for geeks by geeks” that honors achievements in categories like Video Games, Tabletop Games, Cosplay, Film, and more – will be taking the convention to the next level by bringing along Geekie Award nominated tabletop games and their developers, for attendees to both experience and meet.

The finalists of this year’s Geekie Awards have not yet been chosen, and submissions are being accepted now through May 31, with nominees to be announced on July 21. Applicants in the Video Games and Tabletop categories will receive a complimentary day pass to Gam3rCon, and those who are selected as final nominees will receive a week-long pass to the gaming convention.

Tickets are still available to the convention, ranging from $50 for a week-long pass to all four days of Gam3rCon, to $20 for a one-day pass. Children under the age of 12 can get a week-long pass for $30, or a day pass for $10.

You can also find more information about Gam3rCon on our event page, which will be updated with more information as it is announced.
