Funko San Diego Comic-Con 2016 Exclusives [UPDATE July 19]

If there’s one company at San Diego Comic-Con that’s blown up the last few years – it’s Funko. Their exclusives are some of the hardest to get, but they’re also some of the best. Word on the street is that they’ll be moving to a Sails ticket distribution process this year– and an entirely different process for Preview Night.

Their “summer exclusive” exclusives – as well as likely more – should be available outside of the convention, typically in places like Hot Topic and Barnes & Noble. Funko will be releasing that information on Wednesday, but for now, here’s everything that we know.

From their site, here’s a look at pricing:

Dorbz: $10
Dorbz multi-packs: $20-$35
Dorbz Ridez: $25
Rock Candy: $15
Pop!s: $15
Oversized Pop!s & multi-packs: $20-40
Pop! Rides: $40
ReAction set: $25
World of Pop! Book $25
Hikari: $80

Here’s a look at their offerings for 2016:

[UPDATE July 18]

Funko has one more round of exclusives, which are more shared Toy Tokyo items (though only available at Comic-Con through the Funko booth).

From their site, here’s a look:

[UPDATE July 7]

Looks like the Funko announcements aren’t over yet – as Entertainment just unveiled a Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Newt Scamander Pop! heading to Comic-Con (and Barnes and Noble starting Thursday morning online, so stop stressing about the Funko line, kids). Newt comes equipped with his hand, his Hufflepuff scarf, and his magic case. The EW article made it sound like this could potentially be just an early release rather than an exclusive – but we’re not sure.

Funko’s blog also showed off a few more exclusives, including Harry Potter minis and a Strawberry Shortcake Funko Pop!

From their blog, here’s a look:

Pop! Movies: Fantastic Beasts - Newt Scamander

Pop! Minis: Harry Potter 3-pack - Cornish Pixie, Mandrake & Grindylow

From their blog, here’s a look:

[UPDATE June 15] And it’s time for Wave Two of Funko’s San Diego Comic-Con exclusives, which includes Batman v Superman (which will also be a summer exclusive), Deadpool, Duck Dodgers, The Dark Crystal (also a summer exclusive), and more:

From their blog, here’s a look:

[UPDATE June 13] Today, Funko surprised attendees by announcing that there will be 8 or 9 waves total for their exclusives – with the first round today. Also, although The Powerpuff Girls figures will be available for regular retail release, they won’t be hitting shelves until 2017 – so if you want to get your hands on them this year, San Diego Comic-Con is the only way.

From their blog, here’s a look:

Well, the first question is which will be SDCC only, and which will be with their partners? Life would be easier if they told us that up front. But from wave 1, 3 are on my list

  • NYAvsFan

Well they showed another shot of the GG with the summer convention exclusive sticker if that helps.

    What does ‘summer exclusive’ mean?

  • Kerry Dixon

That means it will be available elsewhere as well – usually Barnes & Nobles or Hot Topic.

  • sandy b

Will any of these be available at Hot Topic, Barnes and Noble, etc.?

  • Kerry

Anything that’s a ‘summer exclusive’ means it will be available elsewhere as well — which in the past, has meant Hot Topic or B&N.

Thanks for the info. I have purchased them before and wonder how soon they will be on their website on in stores (after convention I assume).

In recent years, FUNKO has overtaken Hasbro as the BIGGEST FIASCO at SDCC. The lines are crazy and very poor managed. Hasbro, to their credit, has mostly figured it out. At last years con, many of their exclusives were still available on the final day.

  • David Johnson

If it’s as screwed up as last year probably none. Watched people in line at there Exhibit Hall Booth ALL DAY with FUNKO people there & they just never opened!

The Funko SDCC Experience? You mean where you wait in line for hours, watch the staff hand giant bags of exclusives to other vendors over our heads, then tell us they’re sold out? No freaking way!

  • Joanna Boese

“HELP! It’s the Hair Bear Bunch” POPS?! AM I DREAMING?! ?

  • Suzana Nature

Where can I find the prices?

  • keeleon

My favorite part is running straight there at door opening to find the line capped. And then checking back through out the day to continuously be told the line is capped and theres no waiting around for the line to become uncapped.

  • mimi

does anyone know when the summer exclusive comes out? Is it preview night or the first night?

  • Suzana Nature

This is my favorite part too. And the best is I get to experience the same emotions at the Mattel booth. Such awesome customer care. Oh, and don’t forget the security and staff don’t TELL you the line is capped, the YELL at you.

  • Suzana Nature

Summer exclusives will be sold during the convention, all days until they sold out. Then a couple (some times a little more) months latter you can find them in stores like B&N and Hot Topic

  • Suzana Nature

I think hasbro has been pretty organized the past two years. Last year we had a problem when they moved the line outside and lots of people just got in without being in line all night. But since 2014 I have been able to get all the products I want from their booth. I can only dream the day Mattel and Funko will get to that level.

  • Kerry Dixon

No – they’re available at retailers starting the Thursday of Comic-Con. At least that’s how it worked last year.

  • Kerry Dixon

Last year, they were online and in stores the Thursday of Comic-Con.

  • Travis Moody

Wasted my ENTIRE Preview night last night in this line, while one of my friends thankfully fetched all the stuff I REALLY wanted for me while wasting my time. When I finally got to the front everything I wanted was gone.

  • ExiledinCA

Mattel figured it out several years ago. You can pre-order most items and pick it up at the Con.

The other reason many were available at Hasbro is they overcharged for many of their products leaving more merchandise leftover. They seemed so surprised with all the leftover stuff at the end of Sunday. I bought 1 item just because I could walk up and buy it (Transformer) and regretted it immediately and just wanted my money back. Took me nearly 2 months of trying to sell it to just get my money back for what I paid for it (no one was interested because the price point was too high)

  • ExiledinCA

The prices are certainly steep. I think the exclusives have gotten less interesting. I don’t see anything in this year’s crop that I “have to have.”

  • Bob

So dr strange will be only available at sdcc or will he hit shelves also?

  • Since he doesn’t say LE, we believe he’ll be available in stores. They haven’t announced yet though.

  • Bob

When do they usually announce things like that

  • Suzana Nunes

Sooo, now we have a Lotery! Just like signings. Spend your night in the line for a chance of maybe get a wristband!! Super awesome!!!!

  • keeleon

Ugh, seriously. I’ve wanted a Devastator ever since I was a kid. so when they announced it as a Comicon Exclusive, the price was irrelevant. I HAD to have one. then I get it, and I’m pretty happy about it, and I see there’s no SDCC sticker anywhere on it, and literally the only thing different between it and the TRU one going for $100 less a few months later is a slight purple chrome on some of the parts…..

  • keeleon

Mattel has actually derided to stop making their “exclusives” exclusive this year, thus devaluing the word even further. You can’t even buy them at the con.

  • sdrob

Ha, yeah I bought that too because there was no line at Hasbro on Saturday evening….I regretted it immediately and sold it on Craigslist the next week for cost, just to get my money back.
