Under the Tents: Syfy, Counterpart, Flex Your Rex, The Ninjabot, NECA Toys, The Geeky Hooker

Like you, we’re all saddened by Nerd HQ’s announcement yesterday — but let’s try to turn that frown upside down with some news about will be coming to the convention, including Syfy, exclusives, and more.

Here’s a look at what you might have missed:

  • Our favorite crochet artist, the Geeky Hooker, pays homage to the Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice “did we just become best friends” moment with A Tale of Two Marthas. Each will be available as prize drops, and she is also offering them as prizes for CCI’s Robert A. Heinlein Blood Drive. Remember to follow her Twitter or Facebook pages for info about her prize drops.
  • Local San Diego artist Scott Hattox shared some of his new acrylics he’ll have with him at SDCC this year. Find his work locally at Calmed 421 in Normal Heights or at Booth #1621 at SDCC.
  • They’re baaaack! Get your inflatable T-Rex costumes ready, as The Flex Your Rex/Dino-Mite Fun Walk stated in a Facebook comment that there will be another walk happening this year, currently planned for Saturday, July 22 at 6:00PM. Stay tuned for further details about the location, etc.

  • Television writer Amy Berg told a fan on Twitter that she will be on “at least” two panels at this year’s convention, and that she’s also anticipating a presence for the Starz series Counterpart. The upcoming espionage sci-fi thriller follows J.K. Simmons’ character as a lowly bureaucrat who discovers the agency he’s working for is guarding a parallel dimension. Sounds like a good fit for Comic-Con, right? And we all know how Starz loves to premiere new shows at the convention…
