Gentle Giant San Diego Comic-Con 2017 Exclusives [UPDATE July 5]

Gentle Giant has been known for having some of the finest crafted San Diego Comic-Con exclusives each year — serving up quality pieces that are filled with nostalgia (and typically more than a few Star Wars offerings).

Let’s take a look at what has been announced:

[UPDATE July 10]

Today brings us another Gentle Giant San Diego Comic-Con exclusive, this time in the form of a Han Solo McQuarrie Concept Mini Bust. The 1/6 scale 6.5″ bust is based on Ralph McQuarrie’s early designs for the character, and is hand cast, hand-painted, and hand-numbered.

Spider-Man is swinging into San Diego Comic-Con with this Gentle Giant Spider-Man Marvel Animated Satue. Spidey is digitally sculpted and carefully printed on state of the art 3D printers, and then each animated statue is hand-cast, hand-painted, and hand-painted – plus it comes with a certificate of authenticity. There’s no word yet on pricing, but Premier Guild members can pre-order it now.

[UPDATE July 3]

Gentle Giant is bringing along a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Princess Leia Hologram Statue, which will retail for $140. The 12-inch 1/8-scale statue features a light-up function for full holographic effect along with a film-appropriate sound clip. There are only 770 of the statues in creation – a tribute to the film’s 1977 release date.

[UPDATE June 28]

Gentle Giant is swinging for the fences with their latest SDCC exclusive from The Walking Dead. They’re walking into San Diego with a 7″ Negan mini-bust. With his trusty bat, Lucille, he’ll show everyone who’s boss as he sits atop your desk. Designed, modeled and prototyped using top of the line 3D technology, this collectible mini bust is hand-cast, hand-painted and hand-numbered with a limited edition certificate of authenticity. You can pre-order Negan now for $120 if you’re one of Gentle Giant’s Premiere Guild members, or purchase on-site at Gentle Giant’s Booth #3515.

[UPDATE June 26]

Gentle Giant’s latest SDCC exclusive is a 6.5″ I Hate Fairyland Gertrude statue. This statue is based on an original sketch by Skottie Young, created specifically for this piece. This limited edition statue will come hand numbered with a certificate of authenticity. You can pre-order her now for $120 if you’re a Premiere Guild member, or you can purchase it on-site during the con at their booth. Also, according to Bleeding Cool, Skottie Young will be on-hand at Gentle Giant’s Booth #3515 each day for signings. Check Gentle Giant’s booth for exact times Young will be available.

[UPDATE June 21]

At Star Wars Celebration, Gentle Giant unveiled San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Luke and Vader 40th Anniversary busts – and now, we have more information on them. The X-Wing Pilot Luke Skywalker Bust and A New Hope Darth Vader Classic Bust are both 1:6 scale busts and based on product concept art by Brian Rood. They retail for a bundled price of $200, and you can purchase them now, or for $100 for either the Luke or Darth Vader.

[UPDATE April 4]

As first reported by Star Wars Toy News, Gentle Giant will be offering a Star Wars Han Solo McQuarrie Concept 1:6 scale mini bust, and a Jumbo Dianoga Trash Monster figure. While these two items are convention exclusives that will also be shared with at least Star Wars Celebration later this month, you’ll also be able to get your hands on both of these at San Diego Comic-Con (as Gentle Giant confirmed on Twitter).

2017 Premier Guild Members will be able to pre-order both later this week, which is also presumably when we’ll get pricing information. We’ll update when we get more.

From Star Wars Toy News, here’s a look at the figures:

Will you be picking these up at San Diego Comic-Con? Let us know in the comments.
