LAIKA Giving Away Limited-Edition LAIKA x NIKE Shoes at Gaslamp Offsite

As if the LAIKA Experience in the Gaslamp during San Diego Comic-Con wasn’t already awesome enough — now, you can enter to win a sweet pair of sneakers while you’re there.

Collider reports that Tinker Hatfield,Vice President for Design and Special Projects and NIKE, has joined up with LAIKA to create a limited-edition NIKE shoe to celebrate each of LAIKA’s animated features: CoralineParaNormanThe Boxtrolls, and Kubo and the Two Strings. Attendees at the offsite event can stop by and enter to win a pair of either the ParaNorman Foamposites, Coraline Dunks or KUBO XVs, which will be given away each day. There will also be a daily drawing for a pair of ParaNorman slippers.

Here’s an overview of the shoes:

  • The Coraline Nike Dunk (2009) features a hand-sewn visible seam on the upper and glow-in-the-dark sole.

  • The Nike Air Foamposite One ParaNorman (2012) features green smoke over a black upper with glow in the dark sole: “weird kicks for weird kids.”

  • The Nike Roshe Run Trollstrikes (2014) created for the release of The Boxtrolls features distressed leather upper, cobblestone-printed midsole, iridescent sewer-green heel panels and steampunk lace locks.

  • The Kubo XV (2016) has a sleek look and zip up front.  The design is an homage to the film’s themes of good vs. evil, with alternating colors of blue and red.

I am by far not a nike fan. Cheap material for high mark-up made for pennies but THIS,! this is cool and I didn’t even know they did the others. I am going to have to go for this for the wife. She’s a big Coraline fan. Already pre-ordered the NECA exclusive.
