Details on the Tickets and Hotels Going On Sale Monday

Zack Young | June 27, 2010 | 1:08 PM

UPDATE: Check out Dark Stitch’s comment at the bottom of the page for important info regarding passes.

Comic-Con just announced they will be selling a limited number of 4-day passes and hotel combos on Monday at 10 AM Pacific Time. This is very exciting news for people who missed out on tickets when they first came out. Go HERE for all the details. There are two drawbacks though.

The first catch is that all of the hotels available are moderately far from  the convention center. They’re all around 10-12 minutes driving to the Con and this means about 20 minutes with SDCC traffic. There will be a shuttle service provided that is fairly reliable and has a great variety of times that will make this less of an issue. The second catch is that the tickets/rooms are all very expensive and much more then what most people payed when hotels first went up. Basically, if you’re looking to go and don’t have tickets or hotels this is an awesome solution. If you’re a person who already has a hotel and thinks these might be better though, they probably aren’t. So make sure to head to the link here if you’re interested.

    Two questions:

    1) The package rates listed, are they an amount calculated based on
the minimum 3 days? and not a per day value?

    2) If I am able to get one of these hotel packages and 2 out of the 3 people sharing the hotel space
already have ComicCon memberships – they won’t have pay the additional
$100 each to the price listed or will the price of the package (the
first night specifically mentioned) will be less by $100 each?

We are in desperate need for one ticket. I’m going to go ahead and snag this (even though it’s higher).

I’m with Jaemeel, though: both Hubby and I already have our memberships and only need one more. Unfortunately, the hotels on the list know nothing at all about the packages (yes, I called all four).

Those are good questions but I’m not really sure of the answers. Try calling Comic-Con at 619-491-2475 or emailing them at cci-info@comic-con.org as they would know best.

According to the official sdcc twitter feed there will be tickets without hotel included going on sale on Monday too

SDCCI did a good job last year of posting 4 day and individual day passes for sale on Ebay. Even tweets as to when they were going up. They went fast, but they were there. Since a ticket in is a “membership” and it’s not transferable, think about options tonight.

Actually I hated the Ebay option last year and I’d honestly rather a draw be done instead of that again.

I already sent an email earlier today and have yet to receive a response.

Passes will NOT be on eBay this year according to the Comic-Con’s board (People, not msg board). Check the @Comic_Con Twitter account and the website EARLY MONDAY for more info. This is probably the only way at this point for those that don’t already have passes to SDCC to attend. Good luck to everyone.

Okay, I have more info. Comic-Con will be selling individual tickets without the hotel rooms at 12 pst on Monday. If you need a ticket without the room you can try for that. Hope this helps!

I have a room for 4 nights at the Marriott next door to the convenction centre. I am now no longer able to go to comic-con, and the hotel have said they are happy for me to sell me hotel room. Does anyone know the best forum where I can post an add to sell my room?

Linda – I would try craigslist for San Diego maybe. Or search for other sites were you can sell hotel rooms.

Thanks for your advice Zack, I have posted it on ebay after speaking with the hotel.

    :)

Maybe I, in practice, strongly have no feeling one way or the other about this lovable notion.
