Autograph Schedule Among Updates Posted to Official Comic-Con Site

Jeremy Rutz | July 16, 2011 | 9:10 AM

The “Countdown to Comic-Con” continues, with a mere four days until Preview Night! We can hardly believe it ourselves, and we can’t wait to be on that jumbo jet, San Diego bound.

The folks at Comic-Con International, organizers for the big show, can’t wait to see all of us either, and they’ve been unveiling news and schedules on a daily basis leading up to the con which have been making the wait to opening night just that much more unbearable. Thanks, CCI. We appreciate the tease!

Spielberg Will Be at Hall H for Tintin Panel!

Jeremy Rutz | July 14, 2011 | 4:03 AM

Several sources have confirmed Steven Spielberg will be among the guests during the Hall H panel for The Adventures of Tintin.

Here’s what you need to know: the panel is on Friday, July 22 in Hall H and is the first panel of the day at 11AM, so you if you want a seat to see the man who made us all what we are today, you’re going to have to get there mighty early.

Also remember, CCI will be replaying video highlights of Hall H and Ballroom 20 panels at the end of the day. It’s not the same as being there, but if you must miss this one in person this is the next best thing to catch a glimpse of Spielberg, at least in the same building where he was hours before.

Other guests at the panel are yet to be announced, but with such a star-studded cast and crew, we’re expecting to hear lots more about this one leading up to next Friday. Keep checking here for additional details as we hear.

Confirmed TV Shows List Grows

Zack Young | June 23, 2011 | 12:47 PM

A handful more TV shows were recently confirmed for the con so I thought I’d run them down and give my thoughts.

No Marvel Hall H Panel!

Zack Young | June 22, 2011 | 11:26 AM

Yup, rumors have been floating around for a while but the LA Times just made it official. Marvel will sit out Hall H this year. It sort of makes sense as Avengers might still be filming and even if it’s done, the footage will be in such rough shape that there won’t be much that can impress. After all, when you consider how much effects work all the heroes on screen together will take, the raw footage can’t look very spectacular.

Marvel will likely have a booth promoting the films and might even have some stuff strewn around the con (virals, outdoor displays, and the like) but it definitely takes some thunder out of Hall H as The Avengers would’ve surely been its biggest panel. Now the question becomes Captain America. It comes out the Friday of the con but will Marvel have a big event screening with the cast and crew on hand or just let the fans flock to it on their own? We shall see soon enough.

‘Locke & Key’ Screening and Panel Confirmed

Zack Young | June 22, 2011 | 6:45 AM

Based off the moderately successful and well liked comic book of the same name, Locke & Key was one of the most anticipated shows of the coming fall for many con attendees. Unfortunately after good early buzz and even the president of Fox TV admitting it had a great pilot, the show wasn’t picked up and now only the first episode exists. Luckily for SDCC attendees, they’re likely to be one of the few groups of people in the entire world able to see it before it disappears into the void. On Friday July 22 at 10:30 AM, the con will be having a screening of the pilot, followed by a panel with the comic’s writers Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, the pilot’s writer/executive producer Josh Friedman, and executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. Read on for scheduling weirdness and my thoughts.

WBTV Announces their Full (Huge) Schedule

Zack Young | June 21, 2011 | 11:06 AM

UPDATE: After scanning the list more carefully it also reveals TV will stick to Ballroom 20 as its largest room on Thursday through Saturday but will be taking over Hall H on Sunday (with at least Buffy Musical and Supernatural).

Wow. WBTV just announced they’re bringing 16 shows to the con! After the big lack-of-movies freak out, it’s good to see that TV might be having its biggest con ever. In addition to listing the times and locations for each panel, WB also provided the tentative list of talent for each and it’s pretty impressive. That and some details about their always amazing booth lie below.

HBO Bringing Game of Thrones and True Blood

Zack Young | June 17, 2011 | 12:39 PM

Around the same time Fox dropped their massive slate, HBO also detailed Comic-Con plans. Though they’ll only be bringing Game of Thrones and True Blood, I’m guessing both will be huge hits. Here’s the details:

Game of Thrones – Thursday, July 21 – David Benioff , D.B. Weiss, Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Jason Momoa and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in attendance. George R.R. Martin, the author of the “Song of Ice and Fire” books on which the show is based, is moderating. – Season 2 doesn’t start filming until after the con so expect a Q&A about both the first season and the plans for the second. A huge crowd is likely as it’s gained a big following and this is their first con visit.

True Blood – Friday, July 22 – Creator Alan Ball, Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Sam Trammell, Ryan Kwanten, Rutina Wesley, Kevin Alejandro, Kristin Bauer van Straten, Nelsan Ellis, Joe Manganiello and Deborah Ann Woll on the panel. – This is always a success and the amount of cast members they’re bringing is insane. I expect fan pandemonium. The big question: How will they get them all on stage?
