Cowboys & Aliens Premiere Ticket Info

Jeremy Rutz | July 18, 2011 | 6:43 PM

Ever since Jon Favreau spilled the beans on the Cowboys & Aliens premiere during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, everyone’s been asking how they can get their hands on tickets to what is undoubtedly the Event of the Con. It was announced that 2,000 fans would have a chance to attend, but details have been scarce thus far. The fever pitch surrounding the event reminds us of what Charlie had to go through to get a Golden Ticket to get into Wonka’s.

Well, make that a Golden Brick.

The big Cowboys & Aliens banner going up on the side of the Hilton Bayfront has a text number on the bottom to receive info on how to score tickets. The banner wasn’t complete but we did some deductive reasoning to complete the instructions and came up with the info. By texting the word “Cowboys” to 834-567 we received the following response:

Be on the look out for Cowboys & Aliens gold bricks – get one and you could win tickets to the World Premiere at the San Diego Civic Theater, Saturday, July 23!

So that’s one way to get into the premiere. There may be others, and as soon as we hear of any we’ll pass along the info.

Spielberg Will Be at Hall H for Tintin Panel!

Jeremy Rutz | July 14, 2011 | 4:03 AM

Several sources have confirmed Steven Spielberg will be among the guests during the Hall H panel for The Adventures of Tintin.

Here’s what you need to know: the panel is on Friday, July 22 in Hall H and is the first panel of the day at 11AM, so you if you want a seat to see the man who made us all what we are today, you’re going to have to get there mighty early.

Also remember, CCI will be replaying video highlights of Hall H and Ballroom 20 panels at the end of the day. It’s not the same as being there, but if you must miss this one in person this is the next best thing to catch a glimpse of Spielberg, at least in the same building where he was hours before.

Other guests at the panel are yet to be announced, but with such a star-studded cast and crew, we’re expecting to hear lots more about this one leading up to next Friday. Keep checking here for additional details as we hear.

Comic-Con Real Steel Banners in San Diego

Jeremy Rutz | July 11, 2011 | 12:00 PM

SDCC Blog reader Pat Loika sent us some pics he took showing the Comic-Con banners are up throughout San Diego. And they’re promoting Real Steel, the Dreamworks movie starring Hugh Jackman hitting theaters in October.

Comic-Con 2011 Banners Around San Diego

Hmmm…Dreamworks has been rumored to be largely sitting out of this year’s con, so why promote a movie so heavily when people won’t even be able to hear about it? We’ve heard an offsite promotional event is a likely surprise. Stay tuned for more information as we receive it.

And thanks Pat for the pics!

Is This Confirmation of Prometheus’ Appearance at Comic-Con?

Jeremy Rutz | July 9, 2011 | 5:50 PM

A while back, we reported on a tweet from The Hollywood Reporter writer Borys Kit, announcing Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Ridley Scott’s Alien “prequel” Prometheus would be making an appearance in Hall H. Since then, we’ve heard from other sources that they would not be showing at the con this year. Who to believe?

Well, if a story from SignOnSanDiego.com’s Nina Garin can be believed, Prometheus will indeed be showing in Hall H, as one of the mystery films in the 20th Century Fox panel.

And it all has to do with Justin Timberlake.

Saturday SDCC Schedule Announced!

Jeremy Rutz | July 9, 2011 | 5:26 PM

Okay, we’re officially exhausted. This is good training, though; it gets our mind ready for the insanity that is San Diego Comic-Con. We’ve been officially blown away by the quality and quantity of the panels announced thus far, and we’re only half way through the weekend.

But today, Comic-Con announced their Saturday schedule, which officially pushes us over the mid-point. One more day to go of panel announcements – we think we can pace ourselves.

Although there are some great panels on Saturday, to us it is the weakest of the days thus far. Click through the jump to find out why.

Friday SDCC Schedule Announced!

Jeremy Rutz | July 9, 2011 | 5:12 AM

We’re starting to feel a little deja vu. The Friday SDCC event schedule has been announced, and after going through it we immediately realized we were double and/or triple booked almost the entire day.

Welcome to the SDCC weekend, people. Get used to it.

You’re going to have to make some tough choices, as mentioned in Part 1 of our Newbie guide, because it’s physically impossible to be in two places at once. So, as the good friends that we are, we’re going to go through the events of the day and let you know which ones are worth attending, which are worth skipping, and how to score a seat at your favorite panel.

The Avengers: Is It Going To Be At SDCC Or Isn’t It?

Sara Irvin | July 7, 2011 | 7:00 AM

Perhaps the most exciting moment of SDCC 2010 came during the panel for Captain America.  There, in front of the 6,500 con attendees lucky enough to be in Hall H at the time, The Avengers gathered for their first public appearance!  The crowd went wild, and Marvel fans started counting down the days until next year’s SDCC, where The Avengers would once again gather for a panel of their own.  Then Marvel studios broke the news: there is not going to be a panel for The Avengers this year.  Marvel, like many other movie studios, have decided not to concentrate their efforts on the Comic Con crowds this year.

But all hope is not lost, Marvel fans!

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Ridley Scott’s Prometheus in Hall H for SDCC 2011

Jeremy Rutz | June 27, 2011 | 8:42 AM

How did this get by us?

Three days ago, The Hollywood Reporter and Heat Vision blog writer Borys Kit tweeted some big name movies would be filling the void in Hall H at this year’s Comic-Con:

@Borys_Kit
Borys Kit
Ridley Scott’s Prometheus movie will get a Hall H presentation at CC. As willAbe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. But which actors will be there?
Jun 25 via webFavoriteRetweetReply

That’s right, both the Tim Burton-produced Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel Prometheus will both appear on the conference schedule. No specifics were given as far as time/date or panel guests, but as soon as we hear the details we’ll be sure to pass them along.
