Could Paul Bring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Many Others to SDCC?

Just as Edgar Wright is bringing Scott Pilgrim to the con, his frequent collaborators Simon Pegg and Nick Frost may bring their upcoming sci-fi comedy Paul to SDCC as well. Paul is a film that many, including me, have mostly forgotten about as it was filmed around the same time as Pilgrim but has since been stuck in Post-Production without a solid release date. Pegg recently stated that the film will come out in April 2011 in the UK so a similar US release is expected.

The plot revolves around a pair of British nerds on a road trip in America in which they stumble across an alien named Paul in Area 51. Universal hasn’t had any kind of promotional material released so far and SDCC would be the perfect place to start the marketing campaign with a trailer and maybe some clips. Part of the film even takes place in Comic-Con so any footage from that part of the film is sure to really please the audience.

The flick also has amazing co-stars including Jane Lynch, Jason Bateman, Sigourney Weaver, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Seth Rogen, and more. Pegg would be just about a lock if the film has a panel but an appearance by any of these other stars would be amazing. SDCC is the perfect place to put the movie back into people’s minds and get its core audience excited. Let’s just hope that Universal realizes what an opportunity they have and brings it to the con.
