First, thanks to @evico for catching that Monster High would be holding a panel at this year’s SDCC, on Friday, July 13. The news was confirmed by the the voice of the animated Abbey Bominable, Erin Fitzgerald, on her Facebook page. This will be the first panel for the popular toy line from Mattel, and since there’s no proper television series we think this will announce upcoming products as well as any additional animated specials. Fans of the dolls take note – the MattyCollector SDCC exclusive was one of the first to sell out during the voucher pre-sell a few weeks ago, so we expect this to be a very popular panel.

Next, TV Guide Magazine columnist William Keck revealed he would be moderating a Once Upon A Time panel this year. No specifics on date, time or location were mentioned.

The popular ABC series is starting production on its sophomore season in early July, so don’t expect any season two footage, but cast and crew will undoubtedly be present for a panel and Q&A.

Legend of Korra fans, take note. The popular sequel to the Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series will be getting not one, but two panels at SDCC this year – a proper series panel and a fan panel.

Thanks to reader @ghaash for the tip. As per the tweet, the news of the official series panel was confirmed by creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino (Bryke). We’ve reached out for specifics on both, and we’ll let you know as soon as we get any info.

This morning, Burn Notice lead Jeffrey Donovan tweeted the cast and crew of the long-running USA Network series would not be making a repeat visit to San Diego this year.

To be honest, we’re cool that Burn Notice isn’t coming this year. The show has always been represented by a skeleton crew, usually just Matt Nix and Bruce Campbell; and although we love Bruce as much as anyone, and they have treated dedicated fans with SDCC-exclusive announcements, we think it was time they went big or stayed home.

Finally, our big news from last night. TV Line’s Michael Ausiello set off a geek storm of epic proportions by tweeting that Community would be back at SDCC this year, but not Nathan Fillion’s Castle.

As we stated previously, a Community panel without showrunner Dan Harmon is just asking for trouble with the SDCC crowd, so we’ll get to see firsthand how successful NBC’s damage control will be. No details yet on when or where the Community panel will be, or who will be attending.

The news of Castle‘s absence from this year’s con was somewhat confirmed by the writer/producer Terri Edda Miller via Twitter, who stated the show was not “invited” to SDCC this year.

We’re not sure if it was ABC or Comic-Con who didn’t extend the aforementioned invite, and we’re a bit baffled that a show would have to be invited to the con at all, so we really don’t know what’s at play in this situation. What is interesting to note is that last year’s panel wasn’t advertised as a Castle panel at all, but rather “One-On-One with Castle Star Nathan Fillion”, so it’s quite possible this was a way for the show to get around a similar situation. Regardless, Fillion, the dubbed “Mayor of Comic-Con”, will no doubt be back on stage this year, either in the convention center or across the street at Nerd HQ. Have faith, Browncoats!
