SDCC 2017 Programming Schedule: Wednesday and Thursday Highlights

It’s two weeks away from Comic-Con, and CCI is releasing the programming schedule for Comic-Con 2017 in its annual fashion. We’ll be bringing you the highlights of each day as they’re announced.

We’ll also be discussing our thoughts on this year’s lineup, including our top picks, in a special series of live podcasts this weekend. The first of which will cover Preview Night, Thursday’s and Friday’s lineup, and will be on Friday July 7 at 9:30PM ET/6:30PM PT.

Since we already know the Wednesday sneak peek pilot screening schedule, it’s a simple choice: Catch some cool television pilot episodes, or fight the crowds on the exhibit floor for that must-have exclusive? Having said that, bring on Thursday!

As we predicted, at least part of that big programming gap that we didn’t know about in Hall H on Thursday is going to be 20th Century Fox! They’re only set for an hour – from 11:30AM-12:30PM, and right now it’s listed as the dreaded “TBA”. We’ve heard they’ll mostly be focusing on Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and that doesn’t leave a lot of time for anything else – but there will likely be some kind of teaser for something else on 20th Century Fox’s slate, though it could be anything from Deadpool 2 to The Greatest Showman. There’s also the previously announced Netflix films at 3:15PM, with Bright and Death Note. This is actually a big deal, as we’ll see stars Will Smith, Joel Edgerton, and others join director David Ayer.

Also, blink and you missed it – but in 6A at 6:45PM, you can come learn more about the upcoming The LEGO Ninjago Movie. Why it isn’t with WB on Saturday is a wonderful question.

On the TV side, which takes up a huge portion of the schedule, there’s a million things we’re pumped for. Over in Ballroom 20, there’s the Battlestar Galactica reunion, your first look at Marvel’s Inhumans, and the first appearance for Legion. In Indigo, we get everything from Stitchers to Shadowhunters to Colony and more; in 6A, it’s all about animation with panels for Unikitty!Justice League ActionRocko’s Modern Life, and more; and in 6BCF, you can come learn more about DreamWorks VoltronTimelessGhosted12 Monkeys, and more.

There’s also the now-annual Cartoon Network Screening & Costume Contest at 8PM at night in 7AB, where you’ll get to scope out new episodes, join voice talent, and more.

Into comics? There’s a lot going on on Thursday, and it’s all great. Check out Skybound/The Walking Dead‘s Robert Kirkman in conversation in 6A at 3PM, while 6DE is all DC all the time (with panel highlights including talks with Jim Lee and Geoff Johns). The annual The Mark, Sergio, Stan, and Tom show returns with Sergio Aragonés, Mark Evanier, and Stan Sakai in Room 8, and in Room 9, living legend Walter Simonson discusses his work in a spotlight panel. You can also head over to Room 32AB for the Spotlight on Bone‘s Jeff Smith, or hit up The 2000 AD Thrill-Fest in 29AB with Watchmen‘s Dave Gibbons.

Marvel will be discussing the “Next Big Thing” in 5AB, and while there may not be a panel for the series American Gods, you can still talk about the comic with Scott Hampton over in Room 2. For you Sherlock fans, be sure to catch Steven Moffat and Sue Vertue as they discuss all-things Sherlock manga.

There are plenty of other exciting things happening all day. Anything Goes with John Barrowman returns to the Indigo Ballroom and is always a fascinating and wild ride, composer Shota Nakama speaks about creating the music for Sonic and Sega in Indigo, and you can score a limited edition Call of Duty: WWII Nazi Zombies poster in the Call of Duty panel in 6BFC. Plus, who doesn’t want to attend Mondo Mania at 1PM in 7AB? Or the spotlight on Goosebumps‘ R.L. Stine in 6DE?

There will also be a tribute/celebration to Adam West’s life work, with panelists Kevin Smith, Ralph Garman, James Tucker, and moderator Gary Miereanu in 6DE at 7PM.

You can view the full Thursday programming schedule on the MySched website.
