Under the Tents: Legion M, Entertainment Earth, Symbiote Studios, Ninjabot

“Laurel” or “Yanny”? Who cares when we have all this great SDCC 2018 news? This edition of Under the Tents, which includes SDCC news from Legion M, Entertainment Earth, Monkey Minion Press, Ninjabot, and more will make you forget all about who hears which word and focus on what truly matters – San Diego Comic-Con.

Here’s a look at what you might have missed:

  • Local San Diego author Scott Ian Lewis announced via Twitter that he will be at SDCC 2018 to support his new graphic novel, Death Dreamer. We’ll stay tuned to his Twitter feed for more details.

  • Comic-Con 2018 may go down in history as the year of the teasers. Leah Lazy posted an Instagram teaser of an SDCC exclusive she’s working on for DKE Toys.

  • Artist Warren Louw announced to his Instagram followers that he will be making the trek (pilgrimage?) all the way from South Africa to San Diego for SDCC. He will be at KRS Comic’s booth on the Exhibit Hall floor and will post more info soon.

  • CostumeBiz, creator of high-quality costumes, armor, and props, announced via Instagram that they will be in Artists’ Alley this year at SDCC. Look for CostumeBiz at Table EE-12.

  • They say imitation is the highest form of flattery. Symbiote Studios decided to flatter Funko with their latest SDCC 2018 exclusive tease. We assume the booth neighbors will resolve any differences before SDCC, but stopping at Symbiote’s Booth #5636 may be a lot more interesting this year.

  • SPOON! Ian Chase Nichols, the artist behind New England Comics’ The Tick SDCC 2018 exclusive, jumped on the teaser train with this Instagram post.

  • Author Tini Howard, whose résumé includes Assassinistas and Rick and Morty, will be at SDCC 2018 – just not all of it. According to her Twitter, she will post her hectic con schedule at a later date.

  • Legion M, who touts themselves as the world’s first fan-owned entertainment company, tweeted that they are deep in planning for their SDCC 2018 party. We’re anxious to see what details this year will bring, considering last year they were responsible for both the Stargate 20th anniversary fandom party and the Buffy the Vampire Slayer bash.

  • Draconis Art announced via Facebook that they will be at SDCC 2018 with guest artist Marissa Mackey. You’ll find them at Table #C-4 in Aisle 600. Let them know you’ll visit them by responding to their Facebook Event page.

  • Another Facebook Event we’ve been looking forward to is the return of Rickety Stitch and the Gelatinous Goo. They’re not sure what days they’ll be there, but thanks to Facebook, you can let them know you’ll be looking for them.

  • Disney artist Mingjue Helen Chen is busy preparing for SDCC 2018 and polled her followers to see what kind of print sizes they prefer. It looks like variety truly is the spice of life (and Comic-Con prints).

  • Did you think the teasers were over? Silly readers! Dane Ault, artist behind Monkey Minion Press (one of our favorite exhibitors), teased this Instagram image of the very early stages of an SDCC print. How do we know it’s SDCC-related? Oh, just a hunch.

  • Another of our favorite exhibitors, Arnel Baluyot, better known as Ninjabot, announced via Twitter that he will not be selling his new game, PopCats Fighter, at SDCC this year, since the Kickstarter for it will still be live. He plans, however, to have free goodies to give away to promote the game and maybe even a demo.
