Under the Tents: Funko, Her Universe, Randy Reynaldo, Symbiote Studios

As The Boomtown Rats so eloquently put it, “I don’t like Mondays.” But we think you’ll like this edition of Under the Tents, which includes great SDCC news from Patrick Ballesteros, more Funko, Her Universe, and a lot more.

Here’s a look at what you might have missed:

  • Ashley Eckstein, the mind behind Her Universe, announced via Twitter that she will be signing her book along with her many other appearances at SDCC.

  • Is there a term for a Twitter conversation? A Twittersation? Whatever it’s called, artist Liana Kangas revealed she’ll be at SDCC this year during one of them with writer/cosplayer Katrina Fox.

  • Symbiote Studios joins in on the Year of the Tease with this blurred-out behind-the-scenes photo for their SDCC exclusive.

  • Michael Varrati announced via Twitter that his Queer Fear panel will be back at SDCC this year, and we can also expect some new goodies and exclusives.

  • The creator of the webcomic StrangeLore and co-host of MEGASheen Podcast announced via Twitter that he will be holding a panel, Black and Queer in Popular Media, at SDCC this year. Stay tuned for details on panel date, time, and location.

  • Rocket League announced a giant birthday bash to celebrate their third birthday at Petco Park on Thursday, July 19. We don’t have information yet on how to attend, but we’ll be sharing updates hopefully soon.

  • Funko’s recent Twitter Q&A’s have been surprisingly revealing when it comes to SDCC news. In one recent Q&A, they revealed that there’s a good possibility for The Flash exclusives this year. Sometimes, it’s even hard for Barry Gordon to keep up with all this news.

  • Randy Reynaldo of WCG Comics, the mind behind the comic Rob Hanes Adventures, announced that his featured panel at SDCC will be held on Thursday, July 19 from 12:30PM-1:30PM PT. Stay tuned to our panels post for the location.

  • If you follow Billy Tucci on Facebook, you may have seen him post his contributions to the exclusive pin sets he and his fellow artists will have at SDCC this year.
  • Our good friend, Patrick Ballesteros, has his work cut out for him. He’s compiling art for a sketchbook he plans to release at SDCC this year. If there’s anything in particular you’d like to see included, he invites any and all suggestions to make this book the best it can be.
