FXhibition Will Take San Diego Comic-Con Inside FX Series Through the Lens of Art & Technology

FX Networks has held one of the best San Diego Comic-Con offsites the last several years, with cool activations for their series – and this year is no different, with the network returning again to the Hilton Bayfront Park, where they’ll have activations and installations of fan-favorite shows Legion, American Horror Story, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Archer, and Mayans M.C. This year’s exhibits are all about exploring your favorite FX brands through the lens of art and technology (including the use of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology for the first time as part of innovative installations).

Although American Horror Story won’t be holding a panel at the convention, you can still feel like you’re part of the series with a special American Horror Story Eccentricities Collection, a unique Augmented Reality experience that reveals the darkness lurking within, and the terrifying secrets hiding in plain sight.

In addition, there will be an activation for Legion, which will also allow fans to step inside the mind of a sane man in an insane world through an immersive cinematic art installation by the internationally acclaimed Marco Brambilla Studio [Editor’s Note: This exhibit was in LA earlier this year]. Once inside, participants will find themselves disconnected from the outside world -literally- and fully entrenched in the hypnotic digital realm of David Haller.

Archer fans will be treated to “Archer Sound Boxes”, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get inside the heads of their favorite Archer characters with this whimsical installation by capturing a photo of themselves inside suspended sound boxes adorned with character art. Each sound box features classic sound bites from the show. For fans of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, stop by Camp Paddy’s Irish Pub for playful camp-themed elements including a photo op, sunscreen and water stations. Mayans M.C. will be represented with a Deconstructed Bike Zone, featuring deconstructed motorcycles to introduce you to the new series in a cool photo op. It will also feature a gallery of other acclaimed artists’ takes on the new series, including El Mac, David Flores and Oscar Magallanes.

You can also FX 3D yourself, by using a state-of-the-art 360 scanner to transform yourself into a digital avatar within the world of your favorite FX series.

Those who pre-register will receive a free FXhibition tote bag at registration, which you can customize with your favorite show quotes and art.

The event will be open:

  • Thursday, July 19 12PM – 6PM
  • Friday, July 20 10AM – 6PM
  • Saturday, July 21 10AM-6PM
  • Sunday, July 22 10AM – 2PM
