San Diego Comic-Con has always celebrated the many ways pop culture intersects with education, and that tradition continues with the return of the Comic Conference for Educators and Librarians (CCEL). Hosted by Comic-Con International and the San Diego Public Library, CCEL is a multi-day series of panels aimed at exploring how comics can be powerful tools for learning, literacy, and engagement in both classroom and library settings. Held at the San Diego Central Library’s Shiley Special Events Suite, CCEL runs throughout all five days of the convention (July 23–27) and is both free and open to the public. No Comic-Con badge is required to attend. Interested participants can now register on the San Diego Public Library’s website to secure a spot.
The exact schedule of panels are still to be announced.
You can register now for:
- Wednesday, July 23 (3:30pm-5:30pm) – Teaching and Learning with Comics Workshop
- Thursday, July 24 (10am-6pm) – Library Group Panels
- Friday, July 25 (10am-6pm) – Publisher Panels
- Saturday, July 26 (10am-6pm) – Educator Panels
- Sunday, July 27 (10am-3pm) – Higher Ed Panels
They will also have a daily Cosplay Repair Station, located on the 4th floor of the Central Library in the Central IDEA Lab. All ages are welcome, and the library will have sewing machines, 3D printers, laser cutters, desktop cutters, soldering irons, general sewing supplies, and different types of adhesives readily available — as well as giveaways with Odi the Coyote pins and more.
It will be open Thursday-Saturday of the con from 10am-5pm daily.
