Review: RichardSolo 9000 mAH Mobile Charger
Overview video of the RichardSolo 9000 mAh:
The rest of the technical specs are on their website- RichardSolo 9000 mAh.
After watching the video and studying up on the technical specs there was no question in my mind that the RichardSolo 9000 mAh could power a single mobile device throughout the day at the San Diego Comic-Con. But what I wanted to know is if this external battery could power up multiple devices concurrently throughout the day at SDCC as this would be more realistic for what I would use during Comic-Con.
My SDCC set-up for this year is a couple of Android devices and a mi-fi: Optimus G mobile phone, A Nexus 7 tablet and a Verizon jetpack. I depend heavily on my devices and use them all day long during the con as I am constantly checking and updating information. That constant use quickly drains the power out of my devices within hours and if my devices are dead so could be my con experience. So I definitely need to keep charged and since I am a minimalist I do not want to buy an external battery for each of my devices this is why I wanted to test RichardSolo 9000 mAh as it has a lot of power. But the question that I have is does it have enough power to keep all my devices charged in a convention environment. Luckily for me I had the BigWOW! ComicFest coming up so it gave me the perfect opportunity to test the RichardSolo 9000 mAh out.
I first wanted to run a baseline test which was to see how long it would take the RichardSolo 9000 mAh to power up my Optimus G mobile phone from no power to fully charged with no activity. This test took about 5 hours for the external battery to recharge my Optimus G mobile phone from no power (0%) to 100% charged. What was nice is that the RichardSolo 9000 mAh power only dropped down to 70% leaving a lot of power to recharge another device if need be!
My next step after setting the baseline was to test my multiple device set-up using a long cord USB hub so I could attach all my devices to the RichardSolo 9000 mAh. I started the day at the BigWOW! ComicFest at 8am and stayed there till close at 6pm. All my devices started the day fully charged and when each reached the 50% mark I attached them to the external battery through the USB hub. By 12pm all my devices were attached to the RichardSolo 9000 mAh. At the end of the show each of my devices were still around 50% charged. I used my tablet the most during the con for twitter and the internet and occasionally used my phone for photos and calls. My mi-fi was constantly being used by both my tablet and phone till the end of the show.
I was really impressed with RichardSolo 9000 mAh as it was able to keep my multiple device set-up charged while I was still using them throughout the day at the BigWOW! ComicFest. It even still had 30% power left at the end of the day, enough to keep another mobile device charged! I would definitely recommend this external battery to use at the San Diego Comic-Con if you are thinking of purchasing one. The only drawback for me is the size and weight of the battery as it was not that easy to hold both the battery and the phone in my hand while navigating the exhibit hall and using my tablet at the same time. It would have been great if I had an extra long USB cord for each of my devices so I could have just put the battery in one of my compartments in my backpack and run the cords from there. Other from that it worked perfectly as it kept my devices charged which kept me informed!
