A recent video posted on The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug production diary delivered some disappointing news for those hoping to get a glimpse of the anticipated second chapter in the Middle Earth film trilogy.
Director Peter Jackson stated that he informed Warner Bros. of his decision to not present anything from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug at Comic-Con this year.
The reasons for that are, and there are several really…we’re still shooting and we’re going to be shooting through the period of Comic-Con so we looked at what actors we could send to make a really cool panel…there wasn’t really anyone available, I can’t go. So faced with that, the prospect was then, go record some messages, have a really cool sizzle reel. But the problem is, I’m so busy shooting six days a week trying to get some make-ups done, that every hour I spend focusing on really great reel for Comic-Con, and it would have to be great, would be hours spent away from the vital job of making the second and third Hobbit films as cool as they can possibly be.
Below is the video in its entirety.
Sad news for sure. Leave your thoughts in the comments.
