The Walking Dead Escape Returns to Petco Park in 2014

The Walking Dead EscapeThe Walking Dead Escape, the popular offsite event based on the hit comic and television show, will be returning to Petco Park for San Diego Comic-Con 2014.

The announcement was unveiled exclusively via Entertainment Weekly yesterday, with additional news of a nationwide tour. The event, which can be described as “obstacle course meets haunted house”, gives fans three ways to take part: As a “survivor”, where participants test their nerves as well as their muscles by navigating through an “Zombie infected Evacuation Zone”, dodging walkers (zombies) while crawling, climbing and running through a variety of physical challenges; as a “walker”, where participants get full make-up treatment and play the role of the undead on the course; and as a participant, where folks can observe the action safely (presumably) from afar.

This will be the third year running for The Walking Dead Escape at SDCC. Last year the event also stopped in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center, and during New York Comic-Con aboard the USS Intrepid. We took part in the event last year and had a blast, and suggest anyone who is physically ready for the challenge to make sure they put this on their “must-see” list, either during San Diego or at one of the other announced stops.

Here’s the announced schedule, as per Entertainment Weekly:

Houston, TX – April 26th at Reliant Stadium

Miami, FL – May 3rd at Sun Life Stadium

Tampa, FL – May 10th at USF Sun Dome

Jacksonville, FL – May 17th at EverBank Field

New Orleans, LA – May 24th at Mercedes-Benz Superdome

Atlanta, GA – May 31st at Philips Arena

San Diego, CA – July 25th and 26th at Petco Park surrounding Comic Con 2014

Ticket prices and sale dates can be found on The Walking Dead Escape official site, and we’ll update our event page as soon as more info on the San Diego stop is announced. In the meantime, take a look at our videos below for a first-hand account of the course, as well as the walker make-up process.
