Comic-Con really does have it all: movies, music, comics, literature, and… music?
iHeartRadio announced it will be sending one lucky winner and a guest to San Diego Comic-Con this July including SDCC badges, two nights of hotel accommodation and round-trip airfare. In addition, the winner will receive access to “an intimate performance from Linkin Park”. There’s no word on whether that “intimate” performance means a private concert for the two, or an offsite performance open to the public. Currently, there are no dates for Comic-Con listed on Linkin Park’s touring schedule.
There’s also no mention of a panel in the announcement or in the Official Rules, but Linkin Park’s turntablist Joseph Hahn directed a film, Mall, which is being released later this year. The band supplied the soundtrack to the film, so an appearance at the convention to promote the movie isn’t out of the question. Also, there have been musical performances in some way, shape, or form for years during Comic-Con — San Diego attracts a wide range of talented performers to the city anyway, even without SDCC. But could last year’s surprise announcement of a Hall H panel featuring Metallica, followed by a concert offsite, become a trend?
No matter what capacity Linkin Park is in San Diego for, the iHeartRadio contest is a chance for those disappointed by the lack of a badge re-sale this year to try to score a ticket. Those interested can listen to a participating station for a chance to win, and if selected, will receive everything mentioned above, as well as an autographed guitar signed by Linkin Park, car service, and more.
We’ll update with more details as they are made available.
