[PREVIOUS] Warner Bros. TV Comic-Con line-up jumpstarted a whole slew of panel announcements yesterday, and the news keeps rolling in. The Hollywood Reporter has started this year’s annual panel line-up, and it lists some details about a few previously unannounced panels – specifically, Starz’s Outlander, Lifetime’s Witches of East End, and A&E’s Bates Mates.
Bates Motel and Outlander had already announced their attendance at this summer’s Comic-Con, although this is the first confirmation we’ve seen of a panel for the two series. The most surprising inclusion here is Witches of East End, as it marks Lifetime’s first visit to SDCC – and the network appears to be coming out in full-force, as The Hollywood Reporter has reported that the Thursday panel will include stars Jenna Dewan Tatum, Julia Ormond, Madchen Amick, Rachel Boston, Eric Winter, and Daniel DiTomasso.
There’s no word yet on which stars of A&E’s Bates Motel or Starz’s Outlander will be on the Comic-Con panels, both scheduled for Friday, but Bates Motel‘s 2013 panel included Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga, Nestor Carbonell and others, as well as showrunners Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin. We’d expect the network to bring out a similar roster of talent for this year.
Outlander, which premieres on August 9, already announced that it will be treating select Comic-Con attendees to the series premiere weeks early at SDCC, when those who won a sweepstakes will attend an offsite red carpet premiere. Many had speculated that this could mean Outlander skipped an appearance inside the actual convention center, as Starz had used a similar tactic last year with its then-new series Black Sails, hosting an off-site premiere screening but not holding a panel at the actual convention.
Now, it appears there’s nothing to fear, as The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the panel will take place on Friday in Room 6A at 2:15PM, with “cast and creators expected to be in attendance”. There’s no word yet on whether the panel may also include a pilot screening, as most new series debuting at Comic-Con do, or whether that will be saved only for the offsite event.
Bates Motel may also once again be joining the offsite scene this year, although the exact time and location of that party has not yet been revealed. One lucky fan won the network’s Wish You Were Here Contest earlier this year, receiving a trip for two to Comic-Con and access to the official party, and the chance to “attend with the cast of #BatesMotel” and “any “official Bates Motel event(s)”.
