Welcome to the GeekShot Photo Exclusive Series. This will be a weekly post featuring cool, interesting, or just plain awesome moments we have captured during San Diego Comic-Con. Each week we’ll post a photo by Beth or James of GeekShot Photography. We may include a short story about the photo, but sometimes we’ll just let the photo speak for itself.
About This Photo
Chris Hardwick taking a selfie with Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Gal Godot during the 2014 WB panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
Love him or hate him, you can’t deny Chris Hardwick’s geek always comes through when he moderates a panel. In 2014 he took a selfie with pretty much every set of panelists when he was on stage. I don’t think anything can top the impromptu Tom Cruise photobomb from last year, but it was a lot of fun seeing how all the guests posed.
As for the surprise Batman V Superman cast appearance, it was pretty dang cool. As a photographer though, it kind of sucked. They were the first thing that morning and I hadn’t had time to do much testing with the rented lens or get a feel for the lighting. I didn’t get many photos since they were only on stage for about a minute, and of those not many were good enough quality. That’s just one of the things you’ll have to deal with when you come into a new room at the con. The more you know your camera’s capabilities and settings, the easier it will be for you to adapt. Do some testing before the con if you haven’t used many of your camera’s features. If you bought a new camera or lens, get it soon enough to allow for some testing. If you rent a lens consider getting it a couple days before the con so you can get used to it before you really need it to capture a special moment.
What moment or appearance surprised you the most at Comic-Con? Let us know in the comments.
