Welcome to the GeekShot Photo Exclusive Series. This will be a weekly post featuring cool, interesting, or just plain awesome moments we have captured during San Diego Comic-Con and WonderCon. Each week we’ll post a photo by Beth or James of GeekShot Photography. We may include a short story about the photo, but sometimes we’ll just let the photo speak for itself.
About This Photo
James Robinson at the Spotlight on James Robinson panel at WonderCon 2015.
If you have ever seen someone listed as a special guest for San Diego Comic-Con and wondered just what that entails, here’s the answer. They get their very own panel. They are called “Spotlight on (insert name of guest here)” and all but a few of the guests have one. They run an hour and there are 1 or 2 going basically from the beginning of the convention until near the end. If there’s a particular creator/artist/writer/etc. that you’re a fan of, these are great panels to attend. The format can change but most are just question and answer sessions.
Being a fan of Starman and Leave it to Chance, and having a more open schedule than usual, I decided to attend Spotlight on James Robinson. There was no moderator so he just stood at the podium and took questions. He talked about everything from comics to movies that he’s worked on, plus his new semi-autobiographical comic Airboy. The panel didn’t have the glitz and glamour of a Hall H panel, but it was interesting getting a peek into the mind of a writer I admire.
