Gaming giant Nintendo has had a strong presence at San Diego Comic-Con for years, with its Nintendo Gaming Lounge at the Marriott Marquis & Marina. Attendees will be pleased to learn that it’s coming back, and Nintendo plans to power up unreleased playable games, fan tournaments, game demonstrations, and more.
Fans can stop by the Nintendo Gaming Lounge on Thursday, July 9 – Saturday, July 11 from 10am-7pm, or Sunday, July 12 from 10AM-5PM, to partake in the festivities.
Nintendo will feature unreleased playable Nintendo games, including Super Mario Maker, the upcoming Wii U game that lets players play, creature, and share their own Super Mario Bros.-themed levels using environments, power-ups, and characters from the original Super Mario Bros. They’ll also have Yoshi’s Woolly World, Skylanders SuperChargers, The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, and Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash.
In addition, Nintendo will host multiple tournaments all week for Splatoon, Super Smash Bros., Pokemon Omega Ruby, and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire – including a Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Championship Tournament for kids 12 and under at 11AM on Saturday (or all ages on Friday). The winner of this tournament will receive an amiibo prize pack containing Ness, Greninja, Jigglypuff, Charizard, PAC-MAN, Wario, Robin, Lucina and Mario – Gold Edition amiibo figures.
They’ll also have a stage show in which members of the Nintendo Treehouse will demonstrate the game’s features, including level-creation techniques that will help people easily create custom levels in the game to share with friends.
