DKE San Diego Comic-Con 2018 Exclusives [UPDATE July 11]

DKE, the distributor of urban designer vinyl toys and collectibles, always bring some of the wildest exclusives to San Diego Comic-Con every year — whether it’s the C3P-HO figure or the awesome Storm Trooper Protestor. You can find DKE at Booth #5045 on the show floor.

Darth Trump Resin Masters by Special Ed Toys – $35
This is the first in a series of limited edition “Resin Masters” to go into your “Resin Master” carrying case. We hope that eventually each of the 25 artists on the carrying case will produce their character in the same all white format to complete the collection and fill up your case. Signed edition.

ART 2 D.2 by Mark Todd – $55
This is the 3rd installment In Mark Todd’s STR WAS series. Card backs were printed on a reisograph to give that underground zine feel and Mark as always delivers on these hand painted beauties. The hand cast resin was based on Mark’s own sculpt. 3.75″ scale carded figure. Signed and numbered edition of 30.

Malo by Carlos Ramirez – $100
Carlos hand made a wooden figure which was cast in resin. He hand painted and decorated each one individually and carded them on a hand painted card back which is cut from plywood. Each one is unique. Signed and numbered out of 30 on the back. Each figure is about 4 inches tall. At $100 this is one of the best deals of the show. You can’t get a piece of his art for less and when the Date Farmers were still partners paintings ranged in the $5-25k range.

Baby Fuzzball by Flat Bonnie – $20
Haven’t you always wanted your own walking carpet? This little guy just could not be any more lovable. Imagine peeking into your backpack and this little cutie is looking back at you. Flat Bonnie has created Baby Fuzzball. Each handmade and hand sewn piece is made from faux fur and vinyl pleather. They are 5” round, edition 100 pieces.

We’ve all be grieving the loss of Toys R Us, but no one as much as poor, sad, out of work Geoffrey the Giraffe. Mr Blank Toys in his SDCC debut brings No Toys 4 Us. Hand cast and painted 3.75” scale carded figure. Numbered edition of 40 pieces.

Magic Krustovski the Jiggly Clown by Dollar $lice Bootlegs – $55
D$B answers the age old question. What would Krusty do? Or what would he not do?!? For SDCC our animated clown pal is still finding ways to get into trouble. Not sure what Dollar $lice has against Krusty, but these torturous toys keep selling out, sooooooo……. Hand cast and painted 3.75″ carded figure. Magnet articulated. Signed and numbered edition of 30.

The Great Showdowns by Scott C – $100
The Great Showdowns are a series of paintings, art shows, and books depicting classic pop culture good guys and bad guys. This figure was sculpted by George Gaspar of Double G toys who helped bring Scott C’s characters to life. You get two hand cast and hand painted resin figures on each card featuring Scott C’s signature. He also numbered them out of 50.

We’ve all been there. You tell your parents what you want for your birthday but they go and totally blow it. Enter, Worst Gift Ever. Janky Toys’ loving tribute to childhood disappointment. I mean, look at this poor kid crying all into his cake because he wanted a Jedi Master and instead he got a Medical Droid. Too bad kid! That’s what mid-life therapy is for. Hand cast and painted 3.75” carded figure. Signed and numbered edition of 40.

Leia is not your Toy by Amanda Visell and Michelle Valigura – $100
Our favorite princess once came packaged with a comb accessory and a mirror. That’s right, look it up! The vintage 12” doll had no blaster, no weapon of any kind to defend herself. This is one way to make Amanda Visell and Michelle Valigura mad. But anger often leads to important art. Here is Amanda and Michelle’s answer in toy form. A hand painted hand cast 3.75” carded resin figure. Signed and numbered edition of 50 featuring 10 each of 5 different t-shirt designs.

Prize Pet by RYCA – $75
Every time I came home with a fish from the fair my mom said, “It’s a trap!” She had to take care of the fish for years! Now you can own your very own little fish head friend and he will happily live in his hand made bubble for years to come with very little effort on your (or your mom’s part). Hand cast and painted 4″ carded figure. Signed and numbered edition of 65.

Holiday Special by RYCA – $60
You’ll need twice the amount of sun screen when you join your favorite Bounty Hunter on a “holiday.” Won’t that be “special?” Hand cast and painted 3.75″ carded figure. Signed and numbered edition of 65.

You can bet when he sidles up to the bar everyone knows his name. There’s nothing like a hand painted portrait of an old friend. Each backing card is an original painting! All 24 are different portraits of this kindly fellow. Signed and numbered out of 24. Comes with a sparkly turquoise resin figure.

Wookie Hash Pipe: Chewbee by Jim Mahfood – $100
Jim Mahfood, comic book artist extraordinaire, has created his own Sci-Fi universe series, Wookie Hash Pipe. The third installment Chewbee is transformed from Jim’s hand to real life by sculptor George Gaspar. Each figure is hand cast and hand painted resin and measures approx 4″ tall (still 3.75″ scale because he is a little taller than the other dudes). Signed and numbered edition of 50.

Stripewok by Little Lazies – $55
Meet Stripewok! Each piece is hand sculpted by Leah Lester of Little Lazies. No two are exactly the same but they are so close to one another that it’s kind of hard to imagine that they aren’t cast and she made 30 of them! The 2” figures are signed and numbered on the bottom of the figure and carded in a package she designed and are only $55. Don’t get them wet and don’t feed them after midnight.

I love the smell of Ewoks in the morning. From SkipBroToys, DKE presents Ewokalypse Now. Signed limited edition, hand cast and hand painted carded figure. Featuring card art by David Withers. Edition of 30.

Ground control to SDCC2018, this thing just landed! From Lazarus Toys, DKE presents 3001: A Lad in Space. Signed limited edition, hand cast and hand painted 3.75” carded figure. Featuring figures hand cast by Derek Lauglaug Customs (Instagram: @dllcustoms), art by Michael A.C. Rebey (Instagram: @mdcn), head sculpt by Tyler Ham (Instagram: @hamfx), card art printed by Kevin Malone (Instagram: @kmalone_chimera) and painted and designed by Galactic Jerkbag (Instagram: @galacticjerkbag). Edition of 50. $75.

[UPDATE June 27] DKE Toys invited 11 artists to lend their skills to interpret our favorite Space Rat — Salacious Crumb. Scott C, Christian Clayton, Rob Clayton, Robbie Conal, Mike Egan, Alex Gross, Peter Kuper, Carlos Ramirez, Martha Rich, Mark Todd, and Esther Pearl Watson each created an original painting of the character for the packaging.

Affixed to each card back is an authentic Kenner Salacious Crumb action figure from 1983. Each card back is signed and numbered by the participating artist out of 100. All 11 package styles will premiere at SDCC for $25 each — or you can grab all different designs for a discounted total of $200. For those collectors wanting the completed series, figures numbered 1-20 will be available at the show as matching numbered sets.
