Her Universe’s “Geek Couture” Returns to SDCC 2019 for the Sixth Annual Fashion Show with the Princesses of Power

Ashley Eckstein’s popular geek-themed clothing line, Her Universe, and Hot Topic are returning to San Diego Comic-Con this summer to bring a little extra style to the event. The two companies are once again teaming up for the 6th Annual Her Universe Fashion Show with their theme “The Power of Fashion.” The Junior Fashion Designer component to the competition, sponsored by Cartoon Network, is also coming back with some powerful help — Dreamworks She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is joining the family of Her Universe sponsors this year.

The annual event pairs fashion and fandom, offering budding designers the chance to show off both their designing skills as well as their pop culture loves. Last year’s event featured designs inspired by everything from Marvel, Disney, Doctor Who (including a visit by the Doctor herself), and much more.

For 2019, amateur fashion designers will once again be able to submit their pieces, inspired by geek culture, to compete for a chance to show off their final designs in the live show, set to take place in on Thursday, July 18 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel at 6:00PM PT.

Finalists will compete at the live event, with the winner(s) being selected to be a guest designer with Her Universe to develop a collection to be sold at Hot Topic. Submissions are being accepted through April 19, and the top contestants will be selected and notified by April 26.

For the junior competition — which will also take place at San Diego Comic-Con on July 18 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel — those between the ages of 6-17 can submit ready to wear fashion based off Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe. Entries for the Junior competition must also be submitted by April 19.

You can find the full list of rules on the Her Universe contest page.
