Under the Tents 2022: Her Universe Fashion Show, Funko, Hollywood Horror Museum

As we inch closer to San Diego Comic-Con 2022, there’s so much news for you — from who you’ll be seeing on the exhibit floor to who you’ll be seeing on the runway.

Here’s a look at the news you might have missed:

  • In space, no one can hear you scream — but at San Diego Comic-Con, we’re sure to hear some screams (of delight) at the Hollywood Horror Museum’s Alien-themed booth. If you’re interested in volunteering to help out the Museum at their booth that week in exchange for a free badge, be sure to let them know.

  • If that’s not enough Alien for you, Clara Carija, who co-wrote the story for the upcoming Alien: Inferno’s Fall novel coming this fall, will be on an Alien-themed panel at SDCC, according to her website.

  • If you’re looking for artist and writer Steve Bryant at San Diego Comic-Con this year, you’ll need to look in a new place — as he confirmed he’ll be in a new homebase, at Booth # L-1. He also confirmed several other exhibitors at the convention, including Quirk Books and writer Barry Gregory.

  • Beyond their one announced exclusive, what is Funko planning at SDCC? When asked about the chances of another offsite Pop-Up similar to the one in years past, Funko responded that we would “have to wait and see”. While an exact version of that offsite seems pretty unlikely given that the Funko HQ location in San Diego has been closed for some time. What seems more likely, though, is for the Funko Hollywood location in LA to join in on the fun.

  • And when asked about the possibility of some Funko artists doing sketches at SDCC, the company remained equally tight-lipped.

  • Critical Entertainment, an LA-based publisher, will be making the trek to SDCC this year, and you can find them at Booth #M-11. There, they’ll have their new comic series Minion and Prisoners of the Ghostland (in association with Patriot Comic Books).

  • Creator Becky Cloonan confirmed that she’ll be at San Diego Comic-Con this year in the comments of an Instagram post from Cecil Castellucci, one of this year’s CCI invited Special Guests. Just what is Cloonan up to at the con? We’ll have to wait and see.
