Under the Tents 2022: Jin Yung Kim, Wild Bill’s Craft Beverage, MultiVersus, KRS Comics

We are closing in on the end of June and in just a few short days we’ll be able to say “SDCC is this month!” We are expecting more and more news to drop both before and after the July 4 holiday and we’ll do our best to bring it all to you in a timely manner based on what we know for sure not just what we think might happen. We ain’t about the speculation life and we know you appreciate that.

ANYWAY…..*rant over* here’s a whole bunch of fun things for your afternoon; fancy exclusives, CGC signings and even some lunch suggestions.

Let’s take a look at the news you might have missed:

  • Can we get a great big UBlog cheer for cartoonist Josep Blas who recently announced that he will be sharing a booth, a BOOTH, not just a table, with a friend at San Diego Comic-Con. Hooray for movin’ on up!

  • Here’s another Ethan Castillo sketch, this one featuring a very serious Obi-Wan Kenobi from the Disney+ series of the same name. It’s a lot of fun to see Ethan try out new styles!

  • Soda fiends of the world, REJOICE! Wild Bill’s Craft Beverage will be slinging drinks at the San Diego Comic-Con. No word yet if we’ll get their selection of sodas on tap or if they will be serving up the San Diego Convention Center brand Pepsi, but either way, I know I’m fixin’ to get my caffeine buzz on!

  • Nick Kremenek’s work-in-progress Aliens inspired portrait is one step closer to being finished, which means one step closer to being available at San Diego Comic-Con.

  • We’ve got some excellent gif use from Chris Maze as he realizes it’s time to move a back burner project front and center to get it done in time for SDCC. The more the merrier, right Chris?

  • Jin Yung Kim has another of his Pop Wagon pieces in the works. If you’re feeling tingly it might be because you’re on the right track to guessing this one.

  • The man, the machine, Jeff Pina, added 50 more 5″ x 7″ pieces to what he’s bringing to Comic-Con. These deluxe pieces of original art are perfectly sized and ready to drop in a frame. We venture to guess he’s not even done yet.

  • We are going to miss writers Julie and Shawna Benson at San Diego Comic-Con this year but I have to mention that Julie has the best taste in lunch spots, recommending this bloggers favorite, Lucky’s on 6th Avenue.

  • Comic fans will be able to get their books signed by 15 different creators and then certified by CGC during San Diego Comic-Con. This includes heavy hitters like Frank Miller, Donny Cates, Tom Taylor and more. You’ll want to read all the fine print at CGC’s site to make sure you get your books to their booth in time.

  • Artist Dan Veesenmeyer will have some lovey-dovey X-Men: The Animated Series Jean and Scott portraits available at SDCC. Create your own meme worth moments, bub!

  • By this time, we all know that “asking for a friend” means asking for yourself, and we certainly hope that is still the case with this tweet from actor Krys Marshall of AppleTV+’s For All Mankind.

  • The good folks at KRS Comics has given us the heads up that their SDCC announcements will start this week. Heed those words and turn on your notifications to see their exclusives.

  • It wasn’t long after Warner Bros dropped news regarding a panel for The Sandman, actor Mason Alexander Park who plays Desire on the series tweeted that they will see us there. Not if we see you first, Mason!

  • And lastly today, if you were excited to hear about Warner Bros. plans for the platform fighter game MultiVersus at SDCC, then you’ll be over the moon to hear that there is a meet up in the works.
