You know it’s San Diego Comic-Con news season when we start talking about one of our favorite artists, Patrick Ballesteros.
Ballesteros takes your favorite pop culture characters and fills them with childhood wonder — literally, by creating kid-ified versions of them in his signature style. His popular lines of prints include his “25 Cent Wonders”, which feature make-believe versions of the childhood “rides” you used to find outside shops populated by all your favorite characters, and “Can You Hear Me Now?”, where any combination of characters are just a tin can call away from communicating.
This year for San Diego Comic-Con, he’s been busy working up new exclusives, debuts, and more. Interested in a commission? His commission spots will open at 10AM PT on Monday, April 25. He’ll be opening up around 25 spots, so be sure to e-mail iwantyourart@gmail.com with the subject line SDCC 2022 Commissions if you’re interested.
Let’s take a look at this year’s offerings at Artists Alley #DD-08:

[UPDATE July 5]
Patrick Ballesteros is taking attendees on a cosmic adventure to San Diego with his next print. This 5″10″ piece, titled “You Look Marvelous“, celebrates all the girls (and boys) who felt a bit different — but had something amazing to show the world. Think they’re heading to Avengers Con?
You can grab this print, making its debut at the con, for $20.
[UPDATE July 3]
In addition to his prints, Ballesteros will also have new stickers available at his booth. Here is the release schedule:
[UPDATE July 1]
This next debut from Patrick Ballesteros might just give you a herogasm. This 6″x8″ print is a “super” addition to his line of 25 Cent Wonders, featuring your favorite pop culture characters atop a “ride”. Butcher and the gang are all here in this print, titled “Oh No No No No No“, which will be an open edition, debuting at San Diego Comic-Con for $12.
[UPDATE June 27]
The Multiverse can be a mad place — and a little disorienting. But this new 11″x11″ print from Patrick Ballesteros is anything but.
The open edition print can be hung in four different ways, to give each multiverse its due. “Witch Way Is It?” will be making its debut at SDCC, and available for $30.
[UPDATE June 23]
You can roll with your “homies” in Ballesteros’ latest print, making its debut at San Diego Comic-Con next month. They say to never meet your heroes, and that’s doubly true with Homelander and the rest of the supes in this new 6″x8″ print, titled “Homies?”
Like the other The Boys print, it will be $12, and an open edition — but making its first appearance at the con. You’ll be able to pick it up every day of the convention, so be sure to stop by Booth #DD-08 in Artists Alley.
[UPDATE June 20]
The Boys are back in town in this new print from Ballesteros, which will be making its debut at the convention next month. The 6″x8″ 25 Cent Wonders features Butcher, Hughie, and the rest of the gang as they take on Soldier Boy. “The New Boys & Girls Club” will be available at Ballesteros’ booth in Artists Alley, #DD-08.
[UPDATE June 17]
Ballesteros has another tribute to the best film of the year (and if you haven’t seen it, run — don’t walk). This 10″x10″ print features a multiverse of more than madness — it’s a multiverse of everything, everywhere.
And you can decide which multiverse is your favorite, as you can spin the print in any direction and it still works.
The piece, “You’re My Everything“, will be available for $25 at the show, and is printed on pearl linen.
[UPDATE June 14]
You don’t have to be a furry ticking time bomb — because you can score this Ballesteros 25 Cent Wonders “No Turn On Red” San Diego Comic-Con exclusive print.
The 6″x8″ piece features Mai and her friends and family in all their glory, and is limited to just 100 pieces at the con. Each comes signed and numbered by the artist, and you can pick it up for $16.
[UPDATE June 10]
Get your #WeAreRichmond hashtags ready and get ready to believe — that you are going to score these Ballesteros pin sets. The first, “Wonderboy & Coach Evil“, deals with the duality of man (or at least of Nate), and features two 1.5” magnetic pins on gold plated hard enamel. Because they’re magnetic, you can swap out the face, to choose your allegiance.
You’ll be able to grab the set for $15 at the con.
Then it’s “Boss Beez“, all about the hardest-working BFFs in Richmond. The 1.5” tall pin is also on gold plated hard enamel, and will be available for $12.
[UPDATE June 7]
Oh, a pirate’s life, sounds just right, sounds quite right… Prepare to set a course for Ballesteros’ booth to pick up this 10″x10″ open edition print debuting at San Diego Comic-Con, dedicated to gentlemen pirates, Krakens, Swedes who sing, and everything in between. The whole pirate crew is here, along with a few fearsome foes. We love the details on this piece, from the way Stede and Ed are still toasting each other with tea, to Roach’s patented orange-glazed cake.
The print, titled “What’s Kraken?“, will be available for $20.
[UPDATE June 5]
Ballesteros’ next piece debuting at the con is all about pirates who talk it through as a crew. So wave your pride flag high, and set sail for Blackbeard’s Bar & Grill (& Other Delicacies & Delights & Fishing Equipment). This piece will be available as a sticker — and if we’re very lucky, maybe more — at the con.
[UPDATE June 3]
They say you can’t go “home” again — but we feel like we’re right back in it with the final reveal of Ballesteros’ “No Place Like Home” triptych.
The final 6″x8″ print is titled “Strange Times“, and features everyone’s favorite Master of the Mystic Arts and a certain webhead.
It combines with the other two prints in the series — “Take Two” and “MayDay” — to form a triptych featuring all your favorite characters and moments from the film. This open edition set will debut at San Diego Comic-Con, where you can get each print for $12, or take advantage of a con special and get the full set of three for $30.
[UPDATE May 31]
Many of us have been going through something of a “moon phase” of late — and if you also feel a total eclipse of the heart when you think about these characters, you’re going to want to grab Ballesteros’ latest San Diego Comic-Con exclusive.
Attendees can pick up this fun 8″x8″ mash-up, titled “Moon Lighting“, at the convention for $20. It’s printed on fine art pearl linen, and limited to just 150 pieces.
We love the swirling cosmic colors of the night sky — and that it’s a bit of a departure from Ballesteros’ usual prints, while still maintaining his signature kid-ified characters.
Are you addicted to Boba? If so, there’s no need to put out a bounty — because Ballesteros has your fix right here. “The Boba Shop” is coming to San Diego Comic-Con as an 11″x14″ print for $25, an open edition making its debut at the con, which will be available all days.
The only question then is, which flavor is your favorite?
[UPDATE May 20]
Don’t despair into an Everything Bagel — because you can experience everything, everywhere with Ballesteros’ latest print making its debut at the convention.
This 6″x14″ print, titled “Laundering the Multiverse“, is a tribute to the best film of the year (in our humble opinions). It features more dimensions than you can shake a Raccacoonie at, and finding all the hidden details within sure sounds like a lot more fun than a trip to the IRS.
The print, which is on Fine Art Pearl Linen, is limited to just 150 pieces, and will be available at SDCC for $30.
[UPDATE May 16]
The second part of Ballesteros’ new Spidey triptych celebrates all things “two” — second chances. Second iterations. Second parts in this print series.
The new piece, called “Take Two“, is a 6″x8” print that will be making its debut at the con.
[UPDATE May 6]
For many of us, John Williams scored our childhoods (and most of our adult lives). His music has stolen the show in many of the most iconic franchises of the past decades, including Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Home Alone, and Harry Potter — as well as Jaws, Superman, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and countless others.
Ballesteros’ latest print, “Mr Williams’ Opus“, pays tribute to both the man and his musical legacy. This 11″x14” print will be making its debut at Comic-Con this summer for $30, in an edition size still TBA. Each print will come signed by the artist.
[UPDATE April 22]
Up first is the beginning of a new three-part exclusive, featuring some webheads’ worst nightmares. The piece, titled “Mayday“, is a 6″x8” print. Edition size and price are still TBA, but we’ll have more for you soon.
