Kid Heroes & ‘Lumpia’ Returns to San Diego Comic-Con 2023 with Screenings, Exclusives, Offsite, More [UPDATE July 17]

Kid Heroes Productions premiered their film, Lumpia with a Vengeance, to a packed room (it was the most attended screening at the convention last year). And now the creators know you’re hungry for more.

For 2023, the creators behind the crowdfunded award-winning movie are coming back to San Diego Comic-Con with an even bigger menu, including a double-header screening, exclusives, offsite, signings, and more.

Inside the convention center, they’ll be hosting screenings of both films, Lumpia (20th Anniversary Edition) and the sequel, Lumpia with a Vengeance. They will also be a part of two panels this year, where they will make a special announcement about the future of their “DFU” — or “Deep Friend Universe”, followed by a cast/crew autograph signing at Sails Pavilion (set for Saturday, July 22 from 6pm-7pm in the Sails Pavilion).

For those who haven’t caught part of the “DFU” yet, the films follow an unlikely hero and a high school student who join forces to prevent a mysterious crime syndicate from destroying their town — armed only with a lumpia.

You’ll find them taking over the Gaslamp Lumpia Factory (423 F St, San Diego, CA 92101) for a new pop-up and mixer nightly from Thursday, July 20 – Saturday, July 22 starting at 8pm. See below for more details.

On the show floor, they’ll be taking over Small Press #M-6, where they’ll be serving up SDCC exclusives, booth signings, and new chapters of their new comic book storyline, PAN DE CRISIS.
