WonderPost 2024: Yesterdays, Patrick Ballesteros, California Browncoats, Val Hochberg, Sour Plum

WonderCon is officially this month, and the trickle of news is starting to turn into a steady stream. Today, we’ve got updates for you from some of your favorite artists, including Val Hochberg, Patrick Ballesteros, and more — as well as updates on vendors like Yesterdays and California Browncoats, as well as panel confirmations.

Here’s a look at what you might have missed:

  • There’s no party like a California Browncoats party — and you can party it up over at Booth #889, where the Browncoats will be raising funds and awareness for the Al Wooten Jr. Youth Center, a non-profit focused on college readiness programs for students in South LA.

  • Love fantasy and the world of possibilities it offers? Then you’ll want to chart a course for the “Diversity in Fantasy” panel, which will feature fantasy and horror author Amanda B. Weaver, among presumably others.

  • While light on the details, Harvey and Eisner award-winning VP of Editorial at Z2 Comics, Rantz Hoseley, also confirmed a Saturday panel (presumably for Z2).

  • Our favorite pinmakers, Yesterdays, are heading back to WonderCon this year! You can catch them at Booth #1130, with what sounds like a new convention exclusive, and we’ll have the details right here once it is announced.

  • For some of us, when the ice cream truck would drive through your neighborhood, there was only one choice for a sweet treat — the Sonic the Hedgehog shaped ice cream. The eyes were gumballs, come on now! Sour Plum is honoring the whole Sonic crew and those nostalgic ice creams with a series of stickers, available at WonderCon.

  • Artist Patrick Ballesteros is always busy working on something for WonderCon or San Diego Comic-Con — and whatever this Gizmo Duck WonderCon piece is for, we’re in.

  • Artist Sean Forney has also been busy creating new pieces for the con this month, including this Power Rangers sketch cover that will leave you green with envy if you don’t pick it up.

  • Artist Jamie Sullivan has a lot to tell you — including that he’ll be exhibiting at WonderCon.

  • 15-year-old Michael loves to make stuff, and us WonderCon attendees love to buy stuff. Sounds like a perfect match to us. You’ll be able to pick up this Deadpool x Wolverine Deadpool 3 design in the form of pendants, pins, and magnets at Booth #1809 at the con.

  • As the age-old adage goes: If you have the perfect cosplay and you don’t have photos to show off after, does it even count it? We think maybe Confuscious said that one. But if you’re a cosplayer in need of a photographer at WonderCon, Jonatcon Photography is now taking bookings, starting at just $30.

  • You’re going to love these MSK/Minsoo/Hydrogenpink clip-on keyrings, available at WonderCon in two different designs: Kira Kira and hearts. It’s the perfect way to display your charms/plushies with a little extra pizzazz.
