When it comes to San Diego Comic-Con, connection matters — specifically, your connection to the sea of information about the convention online and on social media. Luckily, Cox Communications is set to enhance the experience for attendees at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con by offering free WiFi hotspots across downtown San Diego.
From Tuesday, July 23 – Monday, July 29, in collaboration with the City of San Diego’s SD Access 4 All program, Cox is opening up access to its hotspots in bustling areas such as the Gaslamp District, East Village, and Little Italy. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure continuous connectivity during one of the city’s flagship events, helping the over 135,000 attendees stay connected to share their experiences online, navigate the city, or stay connected with the outside world.
The free WiFi access is not only a boon for local and visiting Comic-Con attendees but also aligns with Cox’s ongoing commitment to provide enhanced digital services. Regular Cox Internet and Cox Mobile customers already enjoy complimentary access to a nationwide network of four million hotspots, which includes thousands within San Diego County itself.
This special provision for the week of San Diego Comic-Con further extends Cox’s hospitality to tourists and residents alike, enabling seamless internet access amidst the high demand of the convention.
San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria praised the initiative, highlighting its role in supporting the city’s commitment to hospitality and enhancing the visitor experience during such a globally recognized event. “Comic-Con puts San Diego on the global stage, bringing people from all over the world to our beautiful city,” said San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria. “By offering free access to wifi hotspots downtown during Comic-Con, Cox Communications is enhancing the experience for our visitors and showcasing our commitment to hospitality. This partnership helps make one of our city’s most iconic events even more enjoyable for everyone downtown.”
To connect to the free service, users simply need to select the “FreeCoxWiFi” SSID on their WiFi-enabled devices within the coverage areas. For more details on hotspot locations, visitors are encouraged to check Cox’s dedicated webpage.
