Offsites Prepare for San Diego Comic-Con 2024 [UPDATE July 21]

San Diego Comic-Con season is upon us, and that means that offsites are starting to go up, to be ready by the time thousands of attendees descend upon the Gaslamp.

Over at Seaport Village, things are just heating up for the Dragon Ball Z offsite. First up… boxes!!!!

Boxes and crates of what, you might ask?

Well, statues for a start.

Meanwhile, at the Abbott Elementary A.V.A. Fest, setup continues.

At Hulu Animayhem, things have progressed pretty far.

Work continues on the Those About to Die offsite for Peacock, and everything is looking decidedly more like Rome.

We believe this grassy spot on the right will be Abbott Elementary.

Which has been fenced off, presumably for work to soon commence.

Over at Hulu, there are some exciting props now in view, including Roger’s Golden Turd from American Dad!:

And a toxic-green donut for The Simpsons.

Plus a 25 sign, presumably for Family Guy and its big anniversary.

Nearby at Adult Swim, still not a lot to see:

Not much has changed at FX either, as what we still assume is the Grotesquerie Hellevator is the main attraction for now.

Rome wasn’t built in a day. And neither will the Those About to Die Peacock activation, but will definitely be ready a lot sooner than the real Rome was.

Over at FX, we’ve got our first look at what we can only assume is the Grotesquerie Hellevator.

Not a lot to see at Adult Swim yet, but work has started.

And at Hulu, the gears are turning… Or they will be soon, for the Hulu Animayhem factory.

So don’t change that dial, we’ll be back with more updates soon.

We have a Peguin update for you… but it may not be the Penguin update you were expecting! Pudy’s Penguin PudgyWorld is taking over 327 Fourth Ave, where they will serve SDCC merch and sweet treats. Setup has commenced:

The signage is up now for the Sonic the Hedgehog Speed Cafe, which surely means it will be officially announced any… minute… now. Right?

The Chuck Jones Gallery is moving to Seaport Village, where they are hosting a Pop-Up in time for San Diego Comic-Con with artist meet and greets throughout the week. Parks & Cons got a look, which includes plenty of Looney Tunes art and other fun artwork.

Although we still don’t have official word on the return of the Sonic the Hedgehog Speed Cafe, employees said they anticipate it being open as soon as tomorrow, and work inside looks basically complete.

Super7’s Dungeons & Dragons offsite has also gotten some more paint work. Prepare your party for an epic adventure — or at least an epic pop-up.

Work has begun on The Lodge offsite build over at the Happy Does Bar, which will once again be home to the offsite.

It sure looks like the Sonic Sonic the Hedgehog Speed Cafe is returning to San Diego Comic-Con. Thanks to reader @royabagheri, we got a tip that 910 J St is currently getting some signage that should look very familiar to anyone who visited the pop-up restaurant last year. Our own @OutsideComicCon stopped to get a look:

And for those who don’t remember, here was last year’s window:

No official word yet on when it will be opening, or if the menu will be the same — last year’s iteration served a menu heavily inspired by Sonic’s universe, with menu items such as “Sonic’s Classic Chili Dog”; the “Knuckles Sandwich,” a crispy fried chicken sandwich; and “The Evil Genius” egg salad sandwich.
