Sonic the Hedgehog is speeding back into San Diego Comic-Con with another version of their Sonic Speed Cafe restaurant pop-up at 910 J St. And guess what — it’s already open.
It was officially announced on July 18, and the grand opening will take place on July 25 (but again, it’s already open and serving customers), and will continue to do so from 11am-8:30pm through the con.
Throughout San Diego Comic-Con (Thursday-Sunday), the first 25 people in line each day will be eligible to receive special Sonic giveaways from SEGA. You will also find Sonic himself onsite throughout the four-day celebration, along with surprise guest autograph signings and appearances.
Additionally, the custom Shadow-inspired motorcycle will be cruising around the Gaslamp District on both Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28.
Visitors at the Sonic Speed Cafe will find a menu heavily inspired by Sonic’s universe, with menu items such as “Sonic’s Classic Chili Dog”; the “Knuckles Sandwich,” a crispy fried chicken sandwich; and “Piko Piko” tenders. Sides will include “Golden Ring” onion rings and “Fast Fries,” a homage to Sonic’s speed.
And of course, there will be a blue drink — the “Blue Blur” (Sonic) blueberry slushie, the “Smashing Echidna” (Knuckles) cherry slush, and more.
One important change from last year though is that there is no seating.
