Unleash Your Inner Gladiator with Peacock’s “Those About to Die” Offsite at San Diego Comic-Con 2024

Attendees at San Diego Comic-Con will get to step back in time and unleash their inner gladiator at Peacock’s Those About to Die immersive offsite.

As first reported by IGN, Peacock is setting the stage for an electrifying experience at the “Circus Maximus”, where attendees can dive into the ancient world of chariot racing. You’ll feel the rush as you join a fan-powered “chariot race”, navigating Ancient Rome from the betting tavern to the finish line.

The upcoming 10-episode series premieres July 18 on Peacock, and stars Anthony Hopkins, Iwan Rheon, Sara Martins, Tom Hughes, Jojo Macari, and more in an epic tale of the corrupt world of gladiatorial competition. The series, directed in part by Roland Emmerich, explores a never-before-told side of the blood and sport of ancient Rome.

There will also be a Ballroom 20 panel on Thursday, July 25 from 3pm-4pm, with producer/director Roland Emmerich and stars Iwan Rheon, Sara Martins, Moe Hashim, Jojo Macari, and Dimitri Leonidas on hand to present a look at the series. Peacock will also be bringing along Teacup for a panel on Thursday from 1:45pm-2:45pm, an upcoming horror thriller, with executive producers James Wan and Ian McCulloch and stars Yvonne Strahovski, Scott Speedman, and Chaske Spencer presenting an exclusive sneak peek at the series.

The experience at San Diego Comic-Con will be in NBCUniversal’s usual “home base” at the convention, just outside of Baja Rick’s (formerly Tin Fish), at 170 Sixth Ave.

Attendees can reserve a spot online now.

Reservation spots are still sold out, but there will be a stand-by line on-site. Reserved tickets are only for you, with no +1.

The Circus Maximus offsite will be open:

  • Thursday, July 25: 12pm-6:30pm
  • Friday, July 26: 10am-6:30pm
  • Saturday, July 27: 10am-6:30pm
  • Sunday, July 28: 9:30pm-4pm

In addition, as the Olympics are happening during San Diego Comic-Con, Peacock will stunt the Opening Olympics Ceremony on Friday, July 26 with a public viewing using a 20×30 foot digital board to livestream Peacock’s feed.

The event begins with a band, clad in Ancient Roman attire, parading through the Gaslamp District while playing Olympic-themed music. They will converge at Peacock’s “Circus Maximus” activation, marking the start of the Opening Ceremony. Stop by to watch from 10:30am-3pm on Friday.
