A Love Letter To Bandai Namco at San Diego Comic-Con

When it comes to Comic-Con, bigger isn’t always better; bigger lines, bigger price tags, bigger headaches. Some companies succumb to the pressure of expanding to welcome more and more attendees within the boundaries of their booth. This thought of mind doesn’t always work out because of the limitations of floor space or the faulty execution.

There is one Comic-Con staple however, that seems to be finding the ideal way to bring more to attendees in a way that works for everyone.

I’m talking about Bandai Namco, the Japanese company who has their hands in a little bit of everything when it comes to pop culture. They have taken over a large chunk of the exhibit floor at San Diego Comic-Con with their various brands, providing both a huge footprint and great exclusives and experiences.

Let’s take it back to San Diego Comic-Con: Special Edition, you know, the convention that took place Thanksgiving weekend during 2021 after Comic-Con proper had already been skipped for two years. Special Edition is where Bandai Namco really stepped up, to provide attendees with several booths including Pac-Man, Gundam, Tamashii Nations, Bluefin, and Bandai Namco. If you attended Special Edition then you know the floor was in need of some attractions, and Bandai delivered in a big way.

This year at San Diego Comic-Con, we saw Bandai Namco bring several of their brands, including Tamagatchi, Godzilla, Ultraman, Tamashii Nations, Demon Slayer, Gundam, and the Dragon Ball activation at the Marriott Marquis Marina.

All of this is only two weeks after Anime Expo, another event Bandai Namco puts a lot of effort into. and a week after EVO 2024, where they represent the gaming community with Tekken. That’s already a lot going on, but the company showed up at San Diego Comic-Con with energy to spare, and great experiences for fans.

In a time when we’ve seen some larger companies exiting the convention for budget reasons, we want to give Bandai Namco a standing ovation for going above and beyond for attendees. From the exclusives, giveaways, and photo ops, Bandai Namco gets Comic-Con. They get what attendees find special about attending Comic-Con and they put a lot of time, effort, and resources with all of their booths to deliver something fun and memorable for us.

Thanks Bandai Namco.

P.S. a special shout out to David, Justin, and AJ from the Namco Bandai team, you guys rock.
