The Gaslamp Quarter is packed with great restaurants, bars and shops. This doesn’t come to a surprise to San Diegans, but to the tens of thousands who travel to this wonderful city every July, it’s an oasis from the packed Convention Center halls. And with so much going on, well, everywhere, it’s easy to miss out on some of the great events, food specials, and fun times to be had at the local establishments.
We at the San Diego Comic-Con Unofficial Blog would like to highlight a few of these businesses – many we’ve worked with – to give you some options on how to make the most of your Comic-Con visit. And be sure to check out the Gaslamp’s list of specials and deals throughout Comic-Con week.

We wanted to start out with Henry’s because they’ve been so good to us over the years. Not only do they play host to our Enchantment Under The SDCC party, but this year on Thursday July 24 they are hosting a costume contest where the winner can win $1000; and on Sunday July 27 they are home to SHIELDtv.net’s first Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Fan Party.
Chuck Jones Gallery
The Chuck Jones Gallery is hosting some fantastic events Wednesday through Sunday, like artist Fabio Napoleoni on Friday and Saturday, Mike Kungl on Saturday, and Hanna Barbera animation artist Bob Singer on Sunday. RSVPs are required to attend each event, so be sure to check out our post for full details and contact information.
Heavenly Cupcake
Heavenly Cupcake has a full week of contests for our fans and followers during Comic-Con. Try the Daily Riddle or Watch for the Super Hero Contest each day.
For Riddle to Heaven, answer all seven Daily Riddles posted on their Facebook and Twitter accounts and you might be able to guess our overall trivia question for the Grand Prize – one of their delectable designer SuperHero Cupcakes. They’ll also be giving away Cake Pop Bouquets and Pretzel Bouquets, and other contest prizes like limited edition t-Shirts and other tasty treats.
The SuperHero of the Day contest is sure to please fans of cupcakes and superheros alike. Buy any available Heavenly Cupcake flavor customize with one of six different Hero rings. Hold onto that ring – they’ll call out Award Alerts for a different hero each day. Select prizes will then be awarded to limited entrants with the correct and corresponding Hero ring (while supplies last).
And be on the lookout for a tweet from us sometime on Thursday to celebrate our Fifth Anniversary with Heavenly Cupcake!
