Already, people are starting to descend upon San Diego in preparation for San Diego Comic-Con, and it only gets busier from here. Both Amtrak and the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) have announced that they will be extending service.
Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner — which connects Los Angeles and San Diego — has added extra equipment and one additional round-trip, to increase capacity by approximately 6,000 over the four-day period from Thursday, July 21 – Sunday, July 24.
Extra seating will be added to select trains to increase capacity, but two special trains will be operating with the following schedule:
- Train 568 will depart Los Angeles at 9:10 a.m. and arrive in San Diego at 12:04 p.m., making all stops in between
- Train 589 will depart San Diego at 6:01 p.m. and arrive in Los Angeles at 9:26 p.m., making all stops in between
You can book your Amtrak Pacific Surfliner tickets here.
For MTS, new this year, they’ll be operating a special trolley line between the Balboa Avenue Transit Center and 12th & Imperial Transit Center every 15 minutes, from Thursday, July 21 – Sunday, July 24. The Special Event Line will serve UC San Diego Blue Line stations between Balboa Avenue and Santa Fe Depot, and then will continue along the Green Line path between Santa Fe Depot and 12th & Imperial.
