IDW’s ‘Skylanders’ Comics To Debut at SDCC

skylandersSan Diego Comic-Con is a convergence of all things pop culture. Whether it’s movies, television, comics, video games, board games and more, SDCC is the intersection of all these things. Which is why it’s so darn popular, in the understatement of the century.

And where these things intersect, they sometimes blend right into each other. Such is the case with the latest news from San Diego’s own IDW Publishing, which today announced a partnership with Activision to publish a comic series based on the popular Skylanders video game. Better yet, the first issue will be debuting at San Diego Comic-Con this July.

The comic, which will be a prequel the latest installment in the Skylanders video game franchise, Skylanders Trap Team, will be written by Silver Surfer and Green Lantern writer Ron Marz, along with artists Mike Bowden and David Baldeon, who have drawn for both Marvel and DC.

Debuting at SDCC will be Skylanders #0, a 16-page story along with character guides and other information that lead up to the new video game this fall. It will be released in print and digital during SDCC weekend, for those who won’t have the luxury of sleeping out on the pavement for a seat at the next day’s big panel.
