Welcome to the GeekShot Photo Exclusive Series. This will be a weekly post featuring cool, interesting, or just plain awesome moments we have captured during San Diego Comic-Con. Each week we’ll post a photo by Beth or James of GeekShot Photography. We may include a short story about the photo, but sometimes we’ll just let the photo speak for itself.
About This Photo
The back of a chair at the WB Booth at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con.
At this point you’re probably asking yourself what’s so special about this photo to have it be a part of this series. There’s no color. There’s no one famous sitting in the chair. There’s literally nothing but the chair back and the small amount of the all white background. What’s so special?
Memory.
This photo more than any other I took that day while up in the top of the WB booth brings forth happy memories. Sure there was a Supernatural cast signing going on, and I got some cool shots. Yeah, I felt pretty special being able to go up to the 2nd floor of their booth to take photos (even though I’m guessing other press photographers got to do the same). And it was definitely nice getting to see the show floor from a different perspective. But seeing the chairs while I was packing up and realizing there was a freaking Bugs Bunny cutout on them just filled my geek heart with glee. I quickly grabbed a shot of a chair so I could remember it.
It doesn’t matter how good, bland, colorful, detailed, or anything else your photos are of the con. They serve the basic purpose of bringing you back to that time and place. Comic-Con is where we all feel a part of something special. You don’t need a fancy camera or a bunch of technical know-how to capture that. You should use whatever you have to grab shots of moments and memories to carry with you into the future.
Did you capture a shot of something that means the world to you? Let us know in the comments.
