Welcome to the GeekShot Photo Exclusive Series. This will be a weekly post featuring cool, interesting, or just plain awesome moments we have captured during San Diego Comic-Con and WonderCon. Each week we’ll post a photo by Beth or James of GeekShot Photography. We may include a short story about the photo, but sometimes we’ll just let the photo speak for itself.
About This Photo
The Joker figure at the Sideshow Collectibles booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2015.
I felt like doing something a bit darker this week and it doesn’t get much darker than The Dark Knight‘s Joker. I subdued the colors a bit and added some filters to give this a more cinematic look. I’m also really happy with getting this shot right in camera, no cropping was needed. Doing a different angle than most of my statue/figure photos really helped bring out the menace of the character/design.
Part of the fun in taking the time to edit photos is bringing out more of the feel or intent of the subject. You get the chance to make the photo more of what you envisioned when you took it. Or you can take out something that detracts from what you want to show.
Do you have a photo you edited to be more (or less) than the initial capture? Let us know in the comments.
