‘Shadowhunters’ Heads to San Diego Comic-Con 2017

While we weren’t able to catch it live, multiple individuals on Twitter — including ShumDario News — are reporting that actress Katherine McNamara confirmed on an Instagram Live video that Shadowhunters will be at San Diego Comic-Con this year.

It will join fellow Freeform series Stitchers, which will also be in attendance. There’s no word yet on which cast members beyond McNamara will be coming, but series regulars Dominic Sherwood, Alberto Rosende, Matthew Daddario, Emeraude Toubia, Isaiah Mustafa, and Harry Shum Jr. all seem likely.

For the last several years, Freeform (formerly ABC Family) has had a pretty scaled back presence at Comic-Con — though last year they brought the now-cancelled Dead of Summer, and clearly they now seem ready to attend the con in a bigger way. Both Stitchers and Shadowhunters were present at WonderCon earlier this year, but they’ve skipped San Diego in the past due to production schedules. But new this year, both series have seasons currently on the air – meaning they have footage they can show and promote.

The network has also picked up two new Marvel TV shows, including Cloak and Dagger which is about two teenagers from very different backgrounds that get superpowers, and New Warriors which follows six young people who live and work together to make a difference in the world. While neither were included on Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con TV panel list, a trailer or a sneak peek at the end of either the Stitchers or Shadowhunters panel isn’t out of the question.
