SYFY Returns to San Diego Comic-Con with Panels, Parties, Activations, More

If there’s one network who truly “gets” San Diego Comic-Con, it’s SYFY. Which is why it’s great news that they’re returning to San Diego Comic-Con in full force, with panels for Van Helsing, Z Nation, Sharknado, Krypton, Wynonna Earp, The Magicians, and new series Nightflyers and Deadly Class. We’ll also be treated to the return of last year’s amazing “The Great Debate”, where Aisha Tyler (tries to) moderate a bunch of unruly geek celebrities as they have the ultimate superfan debates. There will also be a SYFY Wire Fangrrls panel this year.

NerdHQ may be gone from San Diego Comic-Con, but SYFY is carrying on their grand tradition of epic fan parties at the New Children’s Museum. Stop by Friday, July 20 or Saturday, July 21 from 9PM-1AM for some epic dance parties. Fans will need to RSVP.

That’s not all they’re using the space for, though. Thursday – Saturday, you’ll be able to stop by the New Children’s Museum at 10AM to pick up exclusive, limited edition merchandise “featuring an original, custom genre-themed design by a famed artist).

If you’re into competitions, SYFY will also be hosting competitions to try to claim Mystery Box Prizes, in a few different ways:

  • The Human Claw Machine! The all-you-can-grab extravaganza, located at the Children’s Museum, features a life-size claw machine that will lower players into a pit of prizes
  • Genre-themed bingo trolleys roaming the Gaslamp
  • The SYFY karaoke bus – one of last year’s fan favorites — for those who love to sing their hearts out

[UPDATE] The SYFY Mystery Drops will happen daily Thursday-Saturday from 10AM-11AM at the New Children’s Museum, with the SYFY Human Claw open daily Thursday-Saturday from 11AM-7PM.

And, finally, Orlando Jones returns to partner up with SYFY to present SYFY’s own “Fan Creator Award” medals. He’s bringing back the drumline, and it sounds like he may just be wandering the Gaslamp giving out awards to cosplay he likes, which is… amazing.
