Under the Tents: Marvel Studios, Super7, Flat Bonnie, Wannabe Press, Joe Manganiello

It’s been 51 weeks since SDCC 2017. How do we figure? Because Preview Night is exactly one week away. Are you panicking yet? Of course not; you read Under the Tents, where we bring you great SDCC news all the time. This issue has some amazing announcements, so we’ll just give you the news you’re dying for.

  • Super7 posted on Instagram one of their items they are bringing to their pop-up boodega. It’s a Frankenstein lighter, and it’s letting you know Fire Bad!

  • Tim Drake with On The Mic podcast reported on Twitter that the first 50 people to attend their panel will get an exclusive button. Find them on Friday July 19th at 4pm in the Neil Morgan Auditorium at the San Diego Public Library.

  • Illustrator and printmaker Daniel Danger will be at SDCC booth #1617 and he posted on Twitter some of what you can expect to see there.

  • Collider Video reports that Joe Manganiello stopped by their office and showed off his new Death Saves clothing line he will be debuting at SDCC 2018. The line is a collaboration between Death Saves, Wizards Dungeons and Dragons and BAIT. Joe will be working the registers and signing on July 19th from 1-3pm.

  • Kevin Smith took to Instagram to remind people who will be doing interviews on the IMDb boat this year along with much more including a panel with Grant Gustin and Tom Cavanagh. They will be discussing and debuting their movie Tom and Grant.

  • The Baker Street Babes posted on Twitter a major prize to their Sherlock scavenger hunt, a tea set seen on the set of the tv show.

  • BOOM! Studios posted on Twitter a picture of their The Thrilling Adventure Hour #1 variant cover by Sean Galloway at booth #2229.

  • Creator of award winning comics and graphic novels Lion Forge tweeted that they are bringing their exclusives to Comic-Con booth #5543. Also, MK Reed will be there signing her comic The Castoffs on Friday, July 20th from 4-5pm. Check out the link for all the details.

  • Ben Penrod of AwesomeCon will be at SDCC booth #5639 and will be selling an exclusive Young Bucks t-shirt.

  • White Ash Comics is bringing an exclusive SDCC variant cover for White Ash: Chapter 3 to independent press section L-10. There will be only 75 copies, so if interested, act fast.

  • Russell Nohelty of Wannabe Press announced via Facebook he and Angela Hindes collaborated on a new series, Lucifer Licorice. Look for its debut at Table #K-03 in Small Press, where both co-authors will be onhand with new prints, an ashcan preview of their first issue, and an adorable Moober enamel pin.
  • We are constant advocates of taking breaks during SDCC to maximize your Comic-Con experience. Zenescope Entertainment wants to encourage SDCC attendees to go get some gelato at Gelato Paradiso, so they’ve teamed up for the second year in a row to offer three original new gelato flavors based on the company’s popular characters throughout Comic-Con weekend. Flavors include Krampus Cookie Crunch, Mad Hatter Mash-up and Skye Mathers Sorbetto. Gelato Paradiso is located at 789 W Harbor Dr. and is a short walk northwest of the San Diego Convention Center. Customers who purchase any Zenescope-themed gelato will be eligible to purchase a rare San Diego Comic Con Zenescope metal card limited to 50, while supplies last.

  • Flat Bonnie previously announced that her plushies will be available at DKE’s booth, but we now know her adorable plushies can also be found at Giant Robot’s Booth #1729. Look for her Baby BunEwok (Plush) that will melt your heart at Giant Robot for $20 each. Each plush comes with a signed and numbered hangtag and an adoption certificate. Can’t make it to SDCC? No problem; Flat Bonnie will have a limited number of Baby BunEwok plushies available on her website that you can pre-order now.
  • Marvel Studios continues to celebrate its 10th anniversary by partnering with Hyundai for their Iron Man-inspired Hyundai. Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada will be on hand at the Marvel Booth #2329 along with Hyundai’s VP of Styling, SangYup Lee on Thursday, July 19 at 12PM PT to display what we imagine would make the perfect addition to Tony Stank’s… er, Stark’s garage.
