‘Dragon Ball Z’ Returns to San Diego Comic-Con 2019 with Bigger Presence [UPDATE July 12]

Last year, Dragon Ball made waves at San Diego Comic-Con with some awesome exclusives from Bandai and Tamashii Nations, as well as their touring exhibit, which made a stop by the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina’s hotel terrace for a very cool activation. It was the first time Dragon Ball Z had gone all out at the convention — and there’s more to come.

2019 marks the 30th anniversary of Dragon Ball Z, so it makes sense that Toei Animation, the Japanese studio responsible for the series, and Bandai, have big celebration plans for the year.

And part of those plans do indeed include San Diego Comic-Con again, as they’ll be back at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina Terrace on Thursday, July 18 – Sunday, July 21 from 10AM-6PM daily for the Dragon Ball World Adventure, co-sponsored and presented jointly by Bandai and Toei Animation.

Things kick off first on Wednesday, July 17 at 3:30PM, when fans are invited to gather on the Marriott Marina Terrace to make history. The event kicks off Comic-Con with a Guinness World Records attempt to become the largest gathering of people simultaneously performing the iconic Kamehameha super energy attack move. The first 1,000 participants to arrive will even receive a free Dragon Ball Scouter accessory to wear during the attempt — and actor Sean Schemmel, who voices Goku in the series, will be on hand to lead the attempt. Guinness World Records will also be on-site to supervise and validate the attempt. Interested? Be sure to join the Facebook event page.

During the regular event, you’ll be able to explore multi-faceted, interactive installations. You’ll find interactive kiosks featuring the latest Dragon Ball video games including Dragon Ball Z KakarotDragon Ball Z FighterDragon Ball Legends, and Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle.

You’ll also find a collection of S.H. Figuarts event exclusives on display, as well as special Dragon Ball products from Tamashii Nations (though they’re only for sale in the booth on the show floor to those who won the lottery), Shokugan, and Banpresto.

You can share your time at the Dragon Ball World Adventure thanks to the Dragon Ball Animated GIF Photo Booth, where you’ll be able to select your favorite background and pose for a series of photos that will be stitched together and delivered to you to share.

As you stop by each station, you can also collect stickers, which can be redeemed for free swag, including wristbands, posters, lanyards, stickers, fans, and Saiyan Hair headbands. Here’s a look:

All those who stop by the event will also receive an exclusive 2019 Dragon Ball World Adventure oversized swag bag:
