Under the Tents: Elhoffer Design, Agnes Garbowska, Elfquest, Afrofuturism Lounge

It seems like San Diego Comic-Con 2020 is a long time away with just over 162 days left until the con, but we still found lots of great SDCC news to share. Sit back, relax, and enjoy some con news from Elhoffer Design, the Afrofuturism Lounge, and a lot more.

Here’s a look at what you might have missed:

  • If you’re in the U.S. and looking to see Marvel writer Dan Slott, you can find him at SDCC this year (among his other con appearances).

  • Wendy and Richard Pini, the creators behind Elfquest, may not be tabling at SDCC this year, but they expect to be involved in programming and signings, according to their Appearances page.

  • After taking 2019 off, artist Pia Thrasher is excited to be exhibiting at the SDCC Art Show again in 2020.

  • The West Coast Avengers will be holding their Marvel Fan Shoot for Marvel cosplayers once again at SDCC this year. Check out their Facebook Event for details on specific date and time posted the week before the con.

  • The Afrofuturism Lounge is also returning to SDCC this year at the New School of Architecture and Design from 7PM on July 24 to 10PM on July 25. Visit their Facebook Event to let them know you’ll be there.
  • Yer a wizard, Harry! The fifth annual Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts Cosplay Meetup will take place on Friday, July 21 at the corner of First and Harbor from 10AM-1PM. Visit their Facebook Event and let them know the owl delivered your invitation.

  • Comic-Con International announced that they are taking submissions for the Comic-Con 2020 Souvenir Book. Visit the Toucan Blog for this year’s topics and instructions on how to submit your work.

  • Artist Don Ngyuen has opened his commission list for SDCC 2020, where you can find him in Artists Alley at Table #HH-03. Keep an eye out for Nguyen and many more artists on our SDCC 2020 Commissions List as we get closer to this year’s con.

  • Speaking of SDCC commissions, our good friend Patrick Ballesteros expects to open his list sometime mid-April (after sufficient WonderCon recovery time).

  • Curtis Andersen, better known as Gordie from Sabrina the Teenage Witch, attempted to console a Twitter fan with his 2020 con schedule, which included SDCC 2020. Hopefully, it made her feel a little better.

  • If you’re looking for Dave Dwonch, creator of the Mind Palace web series, he’ll be tabling at SDCC this year.

  • Elhoffer Design, who creates some of the best geek fashion this side of the galaxy, informed their email list subscribers where they can be found this year — at Comic-Con! It’s their only planned convention for the year, but they plan to go BIG by “bringing a dozen new items that will drop at the show”.

  • Is this our first exclusive news of 2020 for San Diego Comic-Con? It just might be. Fans of artist Agnes Garbowska will be looking for her Oni Exclusive SDCC cover variant for Aggretsuko #1 at SDCC this year.
