PAWmicon Returns the Weekend of Comic-Con@Home for All Your Pet Cosplay Needs

Virtual conventions can still recreate some of our favorite aspects of San Diego Comic-Con — panels, exclusives, and more — but one of the hardest things to recreate at home is the experience of seeing everyone’s cosplay.

While we can’t do much about the human cosplay, we’re excited that PAWmicon is back. The Helen Woodward Animal Shelter will be hosting a weekend full of adorable, tail-wagging-ly fun pet cosplay.

From Friday, July 23 – Sunday, July 25, you can stop by The Helen Woodward Animal Shelter (6461 El Apajo, Rancho Santa Fe, CA) for “PAWsome giveaways” for adopters and themed photo opportunities, and more.

The main event, though, will be on Saturday, July 24, from 9AM-11AM PT. Stop by for a Pet Cosplay Contest at the Center’s Education Pavilion, crafts for kids, and more themed photo opportunities. There will even be beverages from The Rush Coffee. Furry contestants will be judged on “creativity, enthusiasm, and execution” by a panel of judges in both “Incredible Individuals” and “Dynamic Duos, Trios, & More” categories.

So put your paws up, ready your Loki Gator cosplay for your dog, and come join in the fun! Plus, who knows — you might just meet your new best friend.

If you can’t stop by in person, you can still support the cause by purchasing a 2021 PAWmicon t-shirt for $27.99, which benefits the Helen Woodward Animal Center.
