Breaking Down the Friday San Diego Comic-Con 2022 Schedule – Major Rooms by Day

If you’re anything like us, you probably already have your Comic-Con schedule started (and if you don’t — why not?!). Especially with panels, though, it’s helpful to know what else is in the panel room, as sure, your panel might be a walk-in by itself — but what if something major is right after it? Plus, until we get the official schedule, this is also a good way to look at gaps, to see what is yet to be announced.

Without further ado, let’s look at the major panel rooms (Hall H, Ballroom 20, Indigo Ballroom, 6BCF, and 6A) for Friday broken down by day and timeslot:

10:30AM-12:00PM: The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of PowerPrime Video’s new series brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s books The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, from the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map. 12:30PM-1:30PM: AMC’s Tales of the Walking DeadIntroducing a new series within The Walking Dead Universe, cast and creatives discuss the anthology of life-and-death, high-stakes survival within Tales of the Walking Dead. Cast will appear to discuss their exploration of unique stories within these stand-alone episodes focused on both new and established characters within the walker apocalypse. Creators will share their thoughts on single-episode storytelling, and cast will share behind-the-scenes anecdotes about these stories. Plus, view the premiere of the series’ trailer.

1:30PM-2:30PM: AMC’s The Walking DeadCast and creatives of the flagship series The Walking Dead discuss the highly anticipated remaining episodes of the decade-long apocalyptic drama. Celebrate the monumental journey of this beloved series and characters as we follow their arcs in the final eight episodes of this epic final season coming to AMC and AMC+ this fall. Plus, a look at the official trailer for the upcoming final episodes.

3:00PM-4:00PM: Keanu Reeves BRZRKR The Immortal Saga Continues– Since its record-breaking debut in 2021, the BRZRKR comic has been thrilling readers with its story of the half-mortal, half-god warrior as he battles through the ages, seeking answers to the mystery of his endless blood-soaked existence, and how to end it. Keanu Reeves joins series co-writer Matt Kindt, and screenwriter on the BRZRKR film Mattson Tomlin, Matt Gagnon (editor-in-chief, BOOM! Studios), Eric Harburn (executive editor, BOOM! Studios), and Stephen Christy (president, development, BOOM! Studios) for an exclusive look at the final issues of the series, along with details on where the saga will go next.

4:30PM-5:00PM: Dragon Ball Super: Super HeroJust one month prior to the theatrical release of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero hear members of the cast and crew offer stories and insights from the film and an exclusive look at the first 20 minutes—and of course, giveaways!

6:00PM-7:00PM: Collider: Directors on DirectingTim Miller (director of Deadpool, creator of Love, Death + Robots), Andrew Stanton (director of Finding Nemo,WALL-E, and John Carter), and Chad Stahelski (director of the John Wick franchise) take part in a wide-ranging and in-depth discussion about the craft of directing and projects past, present, and future. Moderated by Collider’s editor-in-chief Steven Weintraub

10:00AM-11:30AM: The 22nd Annual Animation Show of ShowsRon Diamond (curator, producer) presents the annual collection of incredible international animated shorts. Diamond will conduct a post-screening audience Q&A with panelist Jo Meuris (director, animator). The Animation Show of Shows is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit that brings hand-picked selections of notable international animated shorts to the public, at colleges and universities, and at leading animation studios, media, game, and tech companies.

11:45AM-1:15PM: Marvel StudiosMarvel Studios head of streaming, television and animation Brad Winderbaum; head of visual development Ryan Meinerding; and special guests dive into all things animation with exclusive looks at X-Men 97, Marvel Zombies, What If…? season 2, and more.

1:30PM-2:30PM: Paper GirlsFrom Amazon Studios, Legendary Television, and Plan B comes Paper Girls, a coming-of-age sci-fi adventure series based on the bestselling graphic novels by Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang. The cast, creators, and executive producers present an in-depth look at what to expect from this Prime Video series, debuting on July 29. Paper Girls is a high-stakes personal journey following four paper girls—Erin, Mac, Tiffany, and KJ— who are out on their delivery route in the early morning hours after Halloween 1988 when they become caught in the crossfire between warring time-travelers, changing the course of their lives forever. Transported into the future, these girls must figure out a way to get back to the past, a journey that will bring them face-to-face with the grown-up versions of themselves and the Old Watch, a militant faction of time-travelers who have outlawed time travel so that they can remain in power. To survive, the girls will need to overcome their differences and learn to trust each other, and themselves. 

2:45PM-3:45PM: The Alternate World of For All MankindKelly Lawler leads a conversation with creators and executive producers Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi are joined by executive producer Maril Davis and cast members Joel Kinnaman, Shantel VanSanten, Jodi Balfour, Sonya Walger, Krys Marshall, Cynthy Wu, Casey Johnson, Coral Peña, Wrenn Schmidt, and Edi Gathegi to discuss the propulsive third season of the critically acclaimed Apple TV+ alternate reality series.

4:00PM-5:00PM: Entertainment Weekly: Brave New WarriorsThey may be fighters on screen, but that doesn’t mean they’re not lovers (of the craft). A panel of actors discuss the thrill of playing iconic characters, the difference between their personas and real life, and the highs (and lows!) of their careers in Hollywood.

5:15PM-6:15PM: Nandor Fodor and The Talking Mongoose-In 1935, Hungarian-American para-psychologist Nandor Fodor began his investigation of a strange occurrence on the Isle of Man. An average British family, the Irvings, claimed to be haunted by a mysterious entity at their farm. Was it a demon? A ghost? No. It was a talking mongoose name ‘Gef.’ Join stars Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Ruth Connell (Supernatural), and Minnie Driver – with special video messages from star Simon Pegg (Mission Impossible), as Adam Sigal (Chariot) director of the upcoming dark comedy, associate producer Clare King (Legion M) and members from the film’s creative team discuss how this wildly original story based on true and very strange events made its curious path to the screen and how fans can get involved. Moderated by Executive Producer David Baxter (Legion M).

6:30PM-8:30PM: World Premiere Green Lantern: Beware My PowerWarner Bros. Home Entertainment continues its annual Comic-Con tradition of hosting debuts of DC Universe Movies with the world premiere of Green Lantern: Beware My Power, an all-new intergalactic thriller featuring John Stewart’s first adventure as a member of the Green Lantern corps. In the film, the initially reluctant Stewart—aided by Green Arrow, Adam Strange, and Hawkgirl—must contend with a horde of interplanetary killers bent on eliminating every Green Lantern in the universe, while also journeying into the heart of a raging Rann/Thanagar war to somehow succeed where all other Green Lanterns have failed. Come for the screening, then stay for a lively panel discussion among the film’s stars: Aldis Hodge (Black Adam, One Night in Miami, City on a Hill) as Green Lantern John Stewart, Jimmi Simpson (Westworld, The Man Who Fell to Earth, Pachinko) as Green Arrow, Jamie Gray Hyder (Law & Order: SVU, True Blood) as Hawkgirl, and Brian Bloom (The A-Team, Mass Effect) as Adam Strange. 8:45PM-10:15PM: Encore Screening: Green Lantern: Beware My PowerMissed it the first time? Loved it so much, you must see it again? Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is proud to offer a second helping of the all-new DC Universe Movie, Green Lantern: Beware My Power, which will be available on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray, and Digital starting July 26.

Take a look at all the latest from the Loon-iverse, including the new season of Looney Tunes Cartoons, the new series Bugs Bunny Builders, the new Tiny Toons Looniversity, and bonus surprises. 11:00AM-11:45AM: The Origin Story You’ve Been Waiting For…Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai– Magic, mystery, mayhem, and Mogwai! The cast and crew of Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai answer your questions about the upcoming HBO Max animated prequel series. Executive producers Tze Chun and Brendan Hay, alongside Tara Rueping (art director), Izaac Wang (the voice of Sam), A. J. LoCascio (voice of Gizmo), Gabrielle Neveah Green (voice of Elle), and others will unveil the first clues to unlocking the secrets of the Mogwai that will leave you hungry for adventure (just don’t eat after midnight!). 12:00PM-12:45PM: Smiling Friends Discussion and Q&A– Michael Cusak and Zach Hadel, the creators behind the new Adult Swim Series Smiling Friends, reveal what’s in store for Pim, Charlie, and the rest of the company dedicated to bringing happiness to their bizarre yet colorful world.

1:00PM-1:45PM: Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal Season 2 Discussion and Q&A– After winning five Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Animated Program, Genndy Tartakovksy’s Primal returns to Adult Swim. Animation legend Genndy Tartakovsky (Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Star Wars: Clone Wars) and art director Scott Wills (The Ren & Stimpy Show, Samurai Jack) dive deep into the second season of the acclaimed animation adventure.

2:00PM-2:45PM: Rick and Morty: The Vindicators Screening and Q&A– Calling all Rick and Morty fans! Executive producer Sarah Carbiener joins Rick and Morty producer Nick Rutherford for a first look at the Adult Swim digital series The Vindicators based on breakout characters from Rick and Morty. Be the first to watch Supernova, Vance Maximus, Alan Rails, Crocubot, and Noob Noob fight crime, avert genocides, and yuk it up without Rick and Morty.

3:00PM-3:45PM: Bob’s Burgers– The Emmy Award–winning animated FOX series Bob’s Burgers makes its triumphant return to San Diego hot off the critically acclaimed release of The Bob’s Burgers Movie. Creator and executive producer Loren Bouchard, executive producer Nora Smith, and director/producer Bernard Derriman will break news about the upcoming season. The always entertaining cast—including H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Kristen Schaal, Eugene Mirman, Dan Mintz, and Larry Murphy—will have you howling with laughter with never-before-seen footage followed by a lively panel discussion and audience Q&A .

4:00PM-4:45PM: FX’S Little Demon Exclusive Pre-Series Premiere Sneak Peek Screening and Q&A– It’s been long prophesized that a malevolent force would alter the universe for the rest of time, and you can get a front-row seat! FXX celebrates its newest animated comedy, Little Demon, by heading to the metaphysical realm of San Diego in advance of its premiere later this summer. Thirteen years after being impregnated by Satan (Danny DeVito), a reluctant mother, Laura (Aubrey Plaza), and her Antichrist daughter, Chrissy (Lucy DeVito), attempt to live an ordinary life in Delaware but are constantly thwarted by monstrous forces, including Satan, who yearns for custody of his daughter’s soul. Actors Danny DeVito, Aubrey Plaza, and Lucy DeVito and creators Darcy Fowler, Seth Kirschner, and Kieran Valla join executive producer Dan Harmon for an exclusive screening, followed by an other-worldly Q&A.

5:00PM-6:00PM: FX’s Archer: Exclusive Season 13 Screening and Q&AArcher, the award-winning animated comedy series, returns to San Diego in celebration of its upcoming 13th season! This year, Archer and The Agency have been acquired by the spy conglomerate known as IIA and struggle to find their identity. Will they be able to maintain their independence, or will they succumb to their corporate overlords? There will be an exclusive screening of the season 13 opener, followed by a spirited Q&A with H. Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Chris Parnell, Judy Greer, Amber Nash, and Lucky Yates, plus executive producers Matt Thompson and Casey Willis.

8:00PM-10:30PM: Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards-The 34th annual Eisner Awards (the “Oscars” of the comics industry) honor comics creators and works in 33 categories. The gala ceremony features celebrity presenters and a multimedia extravaganza. Other prestigious awards to be given out include the Russ Manning Promising Newcomer Award, the Bob Clampett Humanitarian Award, the Bill Finger Award for Excellence in Comics Writing, and the Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award.

10:15AM-11:15AM: Multiversus– Get a behind-the-scenes look at MultiVersus, the all-new free-to-play, platform fighter video game featuring an ever-expanding cast of beloved heroes and personalities from Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn (DC) to Shaggy (Scooby-Doo), Bugs Bunny (Looney Tunes), Arya Stark (Game of Thrones) and many others. 2:00PM-3:00PM: Capcom: Street Fighter and Capcom Fighting Collection– Celebrate the latest announcements coming out of the legendary fighting franchise as the Capcom development team discusses Street Fighter 6, 35th Street Fighter anniversary, and Capcom Fighting Collection. This panel offers fun, prizes, and more.

3:15PM-4:15PM: TMNT Cowabunga Collection– There comes a time, brothers, where history is forged like melted cheese . . . it sticks together as one, but it’s still soft and squishy in the middle . . . mmm . . . are you with me?! Charles Murakami (TMNT The Cowabunga Collection senior producer from Konami), Chris Kohler (editorial director from developer Digital Eclipse), and Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman discuss TMNT’s Konami gaming past and present, digging into how this singular library of games changed brawlers, console, and arcade games forever.

4:30PM-5:30PM: No Illogical choices: The Star Trek: Resurgence Interactive Experience– Presenting scenes from the upcoming narrative adventure game Star Trek: Resurgence with Greg Miller (kindafunny.com), Dan Martin (lead writer), Mike Johnson (writer Star Trek: Countdown), Andrew Grant (writer), and Henry Alonso Myers (writer, executive producer Star Trek: Strange New Worlds). They discuss, argue, and opine about the choices and dilemmas presented in the game, then help play out those choices in real-time (with lots of participation from the audience). Q&A to follow.

5:45PM-6:45PM: The Walking Dead: Last Mile– The Future of Entertainment- The Walking Dead: Last Mile is the next big installment in the beloved franchise created by Robert Kirkman, but this time the story is driven by YOU, the fans. Actress, comedian, and Walking Dead superfan Yvette Nicole Brown and actress/creator Felicia Day co-moderate a discussion with Massively Interactive Live Event (MILE) creator Jacob Navok of Genvid Entertainment, creative executive Mike Rogers of Skybound Entertainment, senior writer and producer Jessica Woodard of Terrible Posture Games, and Matthew Ball, noted Metaverse author and producer on TWD:LM. 7:00PM-8:00PM: The Great North– The Tobin family hosts a hilarious conversation about their outrageous Alaskan adventures on FOX’s hit animated series The Great North. Creators and executive producers Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, executive producer Loren Bouchard, and stars Nick Offerman, Dulcé Sloan, Paul Rust, Aparna Nancherla, and Ron Funches discuss what’s to come and preview the upcoming third season with exclusive clips, breaking news and special appearances from star Jenny Slate and more.

8:15PM-9:15PM: Worst Cartoons Evers! Hosted by Jerry Beck– Making its 18th appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, esteemed animation historian Jerry Beck (CartoonResearch.com) and ASIFA-Hollywood will once again foist a selection of the most terribly written, ugliest drawn, and unintentionally funniest animated films ever made. Cartoons include Con favorites Mighty Mr. Titan (the physical fitness superhero in a form-fitting costume a little too tight for comfort) and Johnny Cypher In Dimension Zero (worst. anime. ever.).

9:30PM-11:30PM: Spike and Mike’s Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation- Spike & Mike’s original Festival of Animation theatrically premiered such films as Wallace Gromit by Nick Park and short films by Pixar’s Pete Docter (Up), Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo), and Tim Burton (Vincent). The festival is known for a cutting-edge line-up of classic and award-winning animation short films showcasing a variety of animation styles (2D, stop mo, 3D, photo collage, pixelation, etc.) Appropriate for all ages

11:45AM-12:45AM: Spotlight on Frank Miller– The legendary artist/writer Frank Miller is regarded as one of the most influential and awarded creators in the entertainment industry today, known for his intense, and visceral storytelling and gritty noir aesthetic across comics, novels, and film. His transcendent and groundbreaking works include Ronin, Batman: The Dark Knight, Batman: Year One, Sin City, 300, and more. Recently, Miller launched Frank Miller Presents (FMP), an independent publishing company focused on creating and curating a line of comics that will prioritize developing and producing work with the industry’s greatest and rising artists. Join Miller for a one-on-one interview and Q&A session.

1:00PM-2:00PM: The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder– ♪ The! Proud! Family! What? ♪ Creator and executive producer Bruce W. Smith, executive producer Ralph Farquhar, and series stars Kyla Pratt (Penny) and Alisa Reyes (LaCienega)—with more names to be announced later—discuss the revival of the groundbreaking animated series The Proud Family and share a behind-the-scenes look at the first season, moderated by Janine Rubenstein (editor-at-large, People magazine and host of People Every Day).

2:15PM-3:15PM: Introducing Transformers: Earth Spark– Autobots, roll out! Meet the next generation of heroes in the new original animated series Transformers: EarthSpark. From Nickelodeon and Entertainment One, the Paramount+ Original Series will showcase an insider event that celebrates a new take on the iconic global franchise with a behind-the-scenes look at art, casting, and clips from the series. Featured panelists include all new-series voice talent—Danny Pudi (Bumblebee), Kat Khavari (Twitch), and Zeno Robinson (Thrash)—along with co-executive producers Dale Malinowski and Ant Ward. 3:30PM-4:30PM: Avatar: Braving the Elements Live!– Ready to explore the amazing world of Avatar: The Last Airbender? Avatar: Braving the Elements, the official companion podcast co-produced by Nickelodeon and iHeartRadio, is back for season 2 and bringing you an episode live from Comic-Con! Hosts Janet Varney (the voice of Korra) and Dante Basco (the voice of Prince Zuko) conduct a one-of-a-kind panel that takes you behind the scenes of how Avatar was brought to life.

4:45PM-5:45PM: Shudder’s Queer for FearQueer for Fear, Shudder’s original documentary series, premieres this fall on Shudder and AMC+. The EPs and key interviewees from the four-part docu-series discuss the history of Queer representation in the thriller/horror genre of television and film. Panelists will discuss the creative process of re-examining genre stories through a Queer lens. Plus, view a sneak peek of the series.

6:00PM-7:00PM: Xplay Premieres God of WorkJirard “The Completionist” Khalil and The Black Hokage join the Xplay team for the world premiere of the new comedy YouTube series God of Work. Learn how Xplay gets made, and get exciting news about the franchise’s future.

7:15PM-9:15PM: Princess Mononoke 25th Anniversary Screening– Hot Topic joins special guest Damiar Krogh for the 25th anniversary screening of Studio Ghibli’s Princess Mononoke, exclusive announcements, and more.
