WonderPost 2023: Freakazoid, Toddland, Lord Mesa, Jeff Pina

Some quick calendar math tells us we’re more than halfway through winter in the U.S., which means WonderCon and the spring convention season are mere weeks away. Early bird pricing is over, but you can still get single-day badge(s) to all three days of WonderCon here!

Today, we’ve got a fresh batch of appearance updates, Exhibit Hall assignments, and art teases. Here’s a roundup of some of the recent news you may have missed:

  • Animators Tom Ruegger and Paul Rugg (aka Freakazoid) used their voices to let us know they will be part of multiple WonderCon panels about Animaniacs, Freakazoid, Pinky & the Brain, Tiny Toons, and more.

  • Per JL Grillo, both he and Kaj EK will be bringing their wares as WonderCon vendors.

  • Heidi Macdonald of Comicsbeat.com put out a call looking for contributors for on-the-ground coverage of springtime conventions, including WonderCon.

  • After three years of not attending conventions, Lord Mesa is making a triumphant return to the scene in March, and WonderCon is on the itinerary.

  • Project Naosis confirmed they will be exhibiting this year at, among others, WonderCon and some other little event happening in July.

  • Sean Von Gorman revealed WonderCon is on his con schedule for 2023.

  • Pick up one (or all!) of these adorable prints of Devastator, Omega Supreme, and Grimlock from Transformers or Boba Fett from Star Wars. These were created and recently shared by Jeff Pina, who you will be able to find at Artist Alley #C-59

  • High-five to Patrick Ballesteros for this tease of a Conan the Barbarian piece.

  • Speaking of Exhibit Hall assignments, Hora Tora Studios announced they will be posted up at Artist Alley #E-54.

  • While perennial Shruggie winner Toddland is definitely bringing new Great North merch to SDCC later this year, it’s still up in the air whether the merch will be ready for WonderCon.
