Attendee of the Week: Jaena Wolosonvich

Every week from now until San Diego Comic-Con, we’re celebrating you: our readers! So let’s meet this week’s Attendee of the Week:

Jaena Wolosonvich

@jay_con16

Where are you traveling from?

Phoenix, Arizona.

How many years have you been attending?

5 years.

What was your favorite panel and why?

Voice Actors – Saturday Morning Cartoons. Being in that panel reminded me of waking up on Saturday mornings to watch cartoons. It brought back so many memories. Also, it was awesome seeing the actors voicing the characters from my childhood.

What is your favorite exhibitor or artist booth and why?

Patrick Ballesteros. I really dig his concepts and art style. His art is well thought out and fun.

What’s your favorite item you’ve ever taken home from the convention (swag, exclusive, merch, etc.)?

My Wakanda Forever spirit jersey. I get so many compliments when I wear it. I was so excited when I got a ticket to the Marvel booth.

What was your favorite autograph session and why?

I’ve only gotten one. It was the Pennyworth signing. And it was amazing!!! I got to meet the cast and a few of them complimented me on my cosplay for the day. I was a cat maid  =^. ^=

Tell us about your most memorable celebrity encounter at the convention.

It was my first time at SDCC. I was dressed like a Jedi and my sister was Darth Maul. My sister and I were at dinner when the Maze Runner cast walked in and sat down at a table next to us. My sister starts fangirling out because she’s a huge fan of Teen Wolf, and Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) is her favorite character. I don’t watch the show and have no idea why she’s acting so strange. I’ve had a couple of drinks at this point, so I get up and go over and talk to Stiles and ask for an autograph. He says “Sure! But after I eat.” He finishes his salad and we go up to get our picture. I didn’t realize at the time that Will Poulter was in the movie too. All I knew was that the British guy smelled really good. So I told him that. He looked a bit shocked but smiled. We got our picture and called it night.

What is (or was) your favorite offsite and why?

The Carnival Row offsite. My people and I were there when Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne walked the site! Also, I got to be a creature.

Where is your favorite place to eat during the con?

Tin Fish, but it’s gone now.

What is your favorite thing about San Diego Comic-Con?

The Exhibit Hall. I love the energy that vibrates in that hall. I find it intoxicating. I walk the entire hall and each time I find something new.

What is your tip to a good con?

Hydrate, eat, and have some type of schedule for your day. If you don’t, SDCC will overwhelm you.

What made you interested in attending SDCC the first time?

Someone mentioned San Diego Comic Con while we were at our local convention. It sounded cool. So we did some research and luckily got badges.

How would you describe SDCC to someone who has never been before?

An epic adventure of nerd pop culture. It’s amazing hanging out with people who have the same level of enthusiasm and love for the things that bring you joy.
